Minimum Requirement* for Editor* All student editor* of publica tiona shall meet the following general requirements: 1. Academic classification as junior or senior (Note that this requirement shall not apply to “summer editors,” nor in cases 'emergency appoint- considered mants.”) 2. Freedom from academic probation or disciplinary action. S. Must have fisariy demon strated above average achieve ment and ability. 4. A minimum of one year’s experience on the ataff of a stu dent publication of the A. and M. The publication* budgets shall be pre pared in cooperation with and af ter Consultation with the editor or editor* of each publication. The budget* shall show revenue sal anea and estimated commission* or hourly wages for staff mem bers and all other estimated ex penses. The budgets shall be sub nutted by the Student Publica- tiona Board to the business man ager of the college for approval. All budget matters shall conform to college fiscal policies Staff budgets and individual salaries or other compensation of student editors and other staff member* of the Office of Stu- 1 dent 1‘ublicationa shall be fixed i from time to time by the Student Publications Board, upon recom mendation of the director of Stu dent Publications and approval of the vice president of the col- 1 ’*• lege. OVERALL ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONS WPS The organuational pattern es tablished in the varioua provis- t ion* of theae by-law* indicates ■ the line of authority and common- |E icatian from the vice president of the college to tha various units in the Student Publications or ganisation. It is recommended that the dean of each major school of aca demic instruction set up an ad visory committee fo» the maga zine of that achooL These advis ory committee* have no executive power, but through their relation with the Student Publications Board member representing the school, they provide s mean* of contact between the deans, the student council, and the students of a particular school and the school-sponsored publication. The policies of the Office of Student Publications will be cleared with the Student Publi cations Board, the policies of the Board will be cleared with the deana of fh# four major schools of academic instruction; and the policies of the deana of these schools will be cleared with the vice president of the college. Among other duties, each fac ulty member uf the Student Pub lications Board ahail be dimrtly responsible to the dean of his school for the operational pro cedure and subject matter content of the magazine sponsored by that school. Student editors of the various publications report to and are responsible to the directors of Student 1‘ublicationa, except a* to certain area* which have in the*# by-laws already been set forth as the specific responsibili ties of the individual members of the Student Publications Board The line of organization ia, it is felt, one of close daily contact in all executive control and super visory and advisory relationships AMENDMENTS Amendment* of the by laws of the Student Publications Board shall be recommended to the Executive Committee for approv al or disapproval.
