He «pent 11 year* in Texas and even though he was bom in Car lisle Barracks. Fa., on Doc. 14, 1M6, he moved to El Campo, Tex- as, when one month old. Despite having lived in many states he ■till claims his allegiance to Texas The only thing Bill knew about A AM when he came here was that it was an all-male school. At first he was undecided as whether to attend A AM or "that other school" in Austin. He first saw the campus during New Student Week and it didn’t take him long : to get the Aggie spirit. Military at AAM wasn’t any thing new to Hill His father, Lt Col. William V. Hill Sr., is in the Dental Corps at Ft. Sam Houston and has been in the service for 22 yeari In his travels throughout the United States he has attended sev eral schools. During his high school years he attended a different one every year finally graduating from George Washington High School in Alexandria, Ya., in 195.Y He lettered in football, track, and crew at George Washington | _ and was an outstanding athlete He is majoring in personnel and administration. The hobbies which take up much of his spare time are hunt ing. fishing, swimming and mod em jaxt. His favorite girl is Sur.y Shaw, s San Antonio girl, who is ■ cute brunette whose pic ture is the ’foremost attraction on his desk. Industrial Editing, Writing Conference Planned Nov. 14 Educational research in a field of journalism that directly con cern* all \AM students and their future work, that of industrial edi ting and writing, will bring to the Aggie campus on Vov 14 a one- day industrial editing conference This conference will he designed to acquaint students with the role that journalism plays in their chosen field The program is being sponsored by the AAM Journalism Advisory Council, and will he presented by members of the Houston Chapter Chemistry Offers Research Grants Robert I Welch Foundation Un- dregraduate Research Scholarship* sre now available in the Depart ment of Chemistry for students interested in certain areas of or iginal research, according to Dr. H. K. Zimmerman, professor of rhemistry. Requirements for appointment* Include interest, demonstrated pro ficiency, a creditable academic rec ord and financial need Each ap pointment will be made for one semester. • In order to be eligible for re appointment, the student’s re search work must have been judged satisfactory by his supervisor and be must also maintain a 2 00 grade point ratio. This conferenee is the product of a study to find out why enough qualified people, well versed In the journalism of their technical field, are not being turned out by American colleges and universities today. ”To my knowledge, this is the first time s project of this sort has been attempted in Texas," said Frank Fields, ’50, publications staff member. C Composite Holds Bingo-SupperParty A bingo-supper party sponsored by the Mrives of C Composite was held in Cashiou Cabin at Hensel Park last Sunday afternoon for the members of the all-senior out fit. There were five couples attend ing the party, including the Buddy Bollfrasses; the John Quigleys and their daughter. Kim; the Dave Ebys; the John Ratcliffs; and the Clyde Tews with their daughter, Janna Caryl.
