Await Arrival of Sanders
With a date for the Gator Bowl
only 11 days away, the Texas Ag

oncoming clash with Tennessee by
running defensive patterns against
a simulated Volunteer single-wing
offense yesterday afternoon.
The Cadets haven’t seen the sin
gle-wing offense in the past 29
games, and even though they show
ed signs of catching onto the Vols
tricky attack, Coach Paul Bryant
said the team stjll had a “long way
to go.”
The Aggies will hold another
workout this evening, but it’s a

Sanders is currently rated the

Dr. Chris Groneman, chairman

By CARY ROLLINS
Temple University, the “Cadil
lac” of East Coast basketball
squads handed the Texas Aggies
a 60-44 shellacking last night in
Philadelphia.
The Owls, on the rebound after
losing to sixth ranked Kentucky
and seventh - ranked Cincinnati,
were in complete control of the
Cadets for the entire game.
Temple was last year’s third-
place NIT team, returning every
starter from the squad including
two All-American candidates.
One of their selections, Guy
Rodgers, a red-hot 6-footer, engi
neered the defeat. He paced the
Owls with 22 points, which was
high for the game.
Neil Swisher, flashy guard from
Victoria was the leading point pro
ducer for the Cadets with 11 points.
Temple has been named one of
the best collegiate teams in the
nation, and currently is ranked
twelfth in the nation — the best
team the Aggies were to face on
their Globetrotter tour.
Coach Bobby Rogers’ eager
cagers were no match for the Tem
ple power, as the Owls pulled away
to a 12-3 lead in the first four
minutes of play. However, in the
second quarter the Farmers nar
rowed the gap to seven points at
31-24, which was as close as they
were able to come.
