John Hughes McCrary—2.27— Floor Repi-esentative to Civilian Student Council; Film Society; AVMA Reporter; AVMA seci’et- ai*y-treasui’er; AVMA Council; Corpoi'al, Squadron 11; Phi Eta Tulane University captured first place in the senior divis ion and Baylor University won the junior division in the Ninth Annual A&M Debate Tournament held here last week end. North Texas State College and the University of Houston finish ed second and third in the senior division; the University of Hous ton and Baylor University won those two places in the junior di vision. One hundred-thirty students from 18 diffei’ent colleges were in vited to the tournament, according to Dr. Lee J. Martin and Vic Wein- ing, faculty sponsors for the A&M Discussion and Debate Club, but rain caused a few to drop out. A&M! students assisting with the tournament were Henry Lyle, Da vid Dannenbaum, Earl M. Huitt, Jay Hirsch, Clayton LaGrone, Don Williamson, Ben Yudesis and John Warner. Aggies did not compete in the tournament. These co-chairmen who are well-versed in national and international affairs will introduce the subjects to be discussed as well as give the students the benefits of their experiences during the discus sions. The discussions in the five round tables wilt center around “The U. S. and the Middle East,” “The U. S. and Europe,” “The U. S. and the Western Hemisphere,” “The U. S. and Africa” and “The U. S. and the Far East.” From time to tijne observer chairs will be empty and students are en couraged to fill these vacancies.
