Gator Bowl Queen Frances Faye Andrews, 5' 4", 210-pound University of Florida sophotnore, was named 1957 Gator Bowl Queen over 21 other lovely college girls Dec. 1 at the Presi dent's Ball held at the Florida Yacht ciub. The blonde, soft-spoken beauty was first announced as a maid of honor by selection committee chair man Charles Bilty. Then, to the surprise of the excited audience, Hilty said, “I’m sorry. A mistake has been made. Will you please walk back and join the other girls.” Miss Andrews retained her ma jestic ppise and radiant smile while snipe in the audience murmured “ppor dear” and “what a disap pointment.” The thrill she received when Hilty announced her as queen far surpassed any disappointment she may have felt a few moments eai;- lier. The new queen is an avid foot ball fan. “I love the game,” she declared. “And I’m so glad A&M is playing here. I went to school in Texas my freshman year.” Then, after a brief pause, she added, “I like Tennessee, too.” The blue-eyed miss is majoring in French at the university with a minor in history. Her hobbies are dramatic painting, tennis and danc ing. The 20-year old queen was judg ed on the basis of beauty of face and figure, charm and sparkle and poise in public. Previously she had been judged on first impressions, activities and leadership, scholar ship, interests and hobbies and. personal presentation. Miss Andrews succeeds Joyce Van Tassel of Auburn as Gator Bowl Queen.
