KOLACHES 1 cake soft yeast flour to make soft sponge 3 cups milk Blend these ingredients, then set aside and let rise until double, in bulk. Then add: Vz cup sugar . 1 tablespoon salt Va cup butter, melted flour to make medium stiff ^ egg yolks dough Let dough rise until twice the size, then dip out with spoon onto floured board and fill with your favorite fruit, poppy seed, cottage cheese or cream cheese filling. Place in baking pan and let rise until double in size. Bake in hot oven, about 375 degrees. GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE » ‘ZVz cups flour 1 teaspoon soda 2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup butter or Crisco 1 whole German chocolate bar, 4 eggs, separated melted in 2 tablespoons water a 1 cup buttermilk Melt chocolate in water. Mix sugar, butter and egg yolks and add the cooled chocolate. Add the dry ingredients alternately with butter milk. Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in two large layer pans in moderate oven. Filling and frosting: 1 box powdered sugar 2 teaspoons of chocolate or Vz cup butter cocoa 1 teaspoon vanilla 4 tablespoons black coffee Blend ingredients and beat until smooth. If too stiff, add enough black coffee to make spreading consistency. SWISS STEAK 2 pounds round steak (cut Vz green pepper, chopped fine 2Vz inches thick) 1 cup drained tomatoes 2 tablespoons fat Vz cup flour 1 medium sized onion, chopped salt and pepper to taste Sprinkle mixture of flour, salt and pepper over the steak and pound into meat. Brown steak well on each side, and add onion, pepper ^nd tomatoes. If desired, one may use chopped celery also. Enough water should be added to make sufficient gravy to serve with the steak. Churches For Week’s Activities CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SOCIETY “Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?” will be the subject of the lesson-sermon at services Sunday. BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH New members recently received into the church will be honored by a pot-luck picnic Sunday at the parish hall, following worship ser vices. Board of elders will meet at 7:30 p. m. Friday. St. THOMAS EPISCOPAL CHURCH The Rev. Roger Cilley will de liver the sermon at the 9:30 morm ing service. Iced tea will be served in the parish hall following the ser vice. There will be a service of Holy Communion at 10 a. m. Mon day. A&M METHODIST CHURCH “Does Your Heart Have 20-20 Vision?” will be the subject of the Rev. James B. Argue’s sermon at Sunday morning services. Inter mediate and Senior MYF meetings will be held at 4:30 and 6 p. m respectively. Evening worship will be conducted at 7. FAITH EVANGELICAL AND REFORMED CHURCH College Ave. at Williamson Dr., Bryan Vz cup poppy seed 1 cup milk % cup’ butter 2 cups flour Soak poppy seed in milk for POPPY SEED CAKE 2 teaspoons baking powder l 1 /^ cups sugar 4 egg. whites, well beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla two hours. Cream butter and add sugar; then add milk and poppy seed. Add dry ingredients and then the beaten egg whites. Bake in layers 25 minutes at 375 degrees. Filling and frosting: 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1 teaspoon vanilla Wz cups milk % cup sugar Vz cup chopped walnuts 4 egg yolks Dissolve, cornstarch in small amount of milk and cook in double boiler with the milk until mixture thickens. Add sugar, beaten egg yolks, chopped walnuts, and vanilla. Social Whirl Mechanical Engineering Wives Club will meet at 7 :30 p. m. Mon day, July 1, in Hensel Park. Bingo will be played and each member is requested to bring a white elephant gift. A door prize has been donated by Town and Country. Aero Wives have scheduled a meeting for 7:30 p. m. Wednesday in D-l-D College View. Refresh ments will be served. Games will be played and refreshments, served. Every one is invited. The Rev. R. F. Buck will address his congregation on the topic, “Can Our Faith Stand Testing?”, at Sun day morning worship. His weekly broadcast will be heard at 7:30 a. m. At 7:30 p. m. the public is invited to attend Bible study, which will feature the film, “Thy Word Giveth Light.” Zion Evangelical Church in Kurten will conduct morning wor ship at 8:30 a. m., with the Rev. Buck preaching. Youth Fellowship will meet at 5 p. m. ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHAPEL No weekday Masses will be cele brated through June 29. OUR SAVIOUR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH The Rev. Edwin Svendsen has selected as his Sunday sermon topic Take All Nor Be Afraid” (I John 4:16-21). Following the service, an auto mobile caravan will take church members to Round Rock, where they will share the afternoon with residents of the Lutheran Home and the Children’s Home. At 7:30 p. m. Monday, all com mittees of the church will meet at the Center. A&M CHURCH OF CHRIST Minister Mont Whitson will preach on the subject, “The Great est of These” at the morning ser vice Sunday. His evening topic will be “The Coming Judgment and the Kingdom.” A&M PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH “The Significance of the Trinity” will be the Rev. Norman Anderson’s topic for his sermon at the 8:45 Sunday morning worship service. The Youth Fellowships will meet at 5 p. m.
