SPAGHETTI SAUCE 3 tablespoons (or more) butter medium onion, chopped fine 2 tablespoons chopped parsley 2 cloves garlic, chopped fine green pepper (Vz if large), chopped 3 tablespoons celery, cut fine % teaspoon oregano V2, bay leaf 1 can tomato paste 2 cans tomatoes salt and pepper Melt butter in sauce pan; add all other ingredients. Simmer for about 4 to 5 hours. Add Kraft Parmesan cheese. Can be served with meat balls, or it is good to simmer with a roast. LIME SALAD 2 cups boiling water 1 package Philadelphia cream 13 marshmallows cheese 1 package lime Jello V2. pint whipping cream Va cup crushed pineapple V2 cup pecans, chopped maraschino cherries Drop marshmallows into boiling water to dissolve. Add Jello; stir until cool. Cream pineapple with cheese; add to cooled marshmal low mixture. Chill just until mixture begins to congeal. Then add cream, whipped, and pecans. Decorate top with cherries. Place in refrigerator, and chill until served. ICE BOX PIE 1 can Eagle Brand sweet 2 lemons condensed milk pecans (optional) 2 egg yolks Beat egg yolks well. Add juice of the lemons and beat about 5 minutes. Add milk and beat again, not too long—1 or 2 minutes. Fold in pecans and a little of the lemon rind, grated. Pour into vanilla wafer pie crust, and 1 chill until ready to serve. FLUFFY BANANA CAKE 1 cup mashed bananas IV2 cups sugar 2 cups sifted flour 2 eggs V2 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon vanilla % teaspoon soda % cup buttermilk % teaspoon salt Vz cup pecans % cup shortening Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. (Stir in buttermilk. Add dry ingredients, sifted together, alternately with bananas. Fold in pecans. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 30 to 35 minutes. — Social Whirl Petroleum Engineering Wives Club will meet at 7:45 p.m. Mon day in room 102 of the YMCA. A film on petroleum engineering will be shown. All wives of petroleum engineering majors are invited to attend this first meeting of the new semester. ★ A demonstration on cosmetics was presented by Mrs. M. B. Dale of the Merle Norman Studio in Bryan at last week’s meeting of the Civil Engineering Wives. The group was also taken on a tour of the new civil engineering- building by Dick McCasland. Hos tesses were Betty Huffman and Shirley Purcell. ★ The Pakistani students of A&M entertained Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Adam at a tea at the Memorial Student Center last Wednesday, on the eve of their departure for Tur key. Adam, assistant coordinator of the foreign program for the Agri culture Extension Service, will as sume the position of agriculture extension advisor under the United States Operation Mission in Tur key. ★ Business Adminstration Wives Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Mon day in the south solarium of the YMCA. A social hour in honor of out-going officers will follow the ’ meeting. Hostesses for the even ing will be Freda Nelson and Ann Johnson. All members, old and new, are urged to be present. ★ Mrs. Marion Pugh will speak on “Interior Decorating” at Tuesday evening’s meeting of the Wildlife Management Wives Club. The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Cashion room of the YMCA. ★ Geology Wives Club will meet at 8 p.m. Monday in the Geology Building for election of officers. ★ A get-acquainted social is plan ned by the Electrical Engineering Wives Club for 8 p.m. Monday in room 203 of the YMCA. Refresh ments will be served by Marge Swearingen and Jeannie Crist. ★ Industrial Education and Tech nology Wives will entertain their husbands at a Valentine party at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. L. V. Hawkins, 1004 South Dexter. ★ Mrs. Richard Behrens of 607 Fairview will be hostess to the Family Study Group for its meet ing at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
