■Wi Wives Club Makes Plans For Holiday Dinner-Dance Social room of the Memorial Stu dent Center will be the scene Satur day of a dinner-dance to be held by the Mechanical Engineering Wives Club. One dollar per couple will be charged members of the club, and $1.80 per couple for non-members. Faculty members of the Mechani cal Engineering Dept, and their wives are invited to attend. Wehrman’s Restaurant will pro vide the dinner, which will consist of fried chicken, potato salad, tossed salad, hot rolls, coffee and cake. The meal, to be served promptly at 7 o’clock, will be followed by dancing. Throughout the evening punch will be served. Each couple attending the af fair is asked to bring an unwrapped toy, costing not more than 50 cents, to be given to an underprivileged child. Reservations for the dinner- dance may be made by calling Evelyn Brady, VI 6-7494, after 5 p. m. The Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering Wives Clubs met jointly Monday evening to see Ed Ambrister and Dan O’Neal of the Minnesota Mining and Manu facturing Co. demonstrate the making of bows for gift packages. Wrong Service Department SAN DIEGO, Calif. <7P)_Sgt. Henry D. Patterson’s “welcome” talk to 20 new arrivals at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot here was repeatedly interrupted by a waving arm. Patterson was forced to acknowledge the presistent re cruit.. “Sir”, shouted the recruit, “I’m supposed to be in the Navy!” Stunned, Patterson checked the roster and found that 18 of the 20 men were all prospective sailors. They had boarded the wrong bus at the airport. TEXAS Wesleyans Elan Christian Mission On A&M Camp MS A&M Wesley Foundation, in con junction with the board of evan gelism of the Methodist Church, will sponsor a Christian Witness Mission on the A&M campus this week. Visitation in the dormitories will be Thursday and Friday nights. The Mission, designed to reach stu dents who are not active in their churches, will be climaxed Saturday evening with a rally in the sanctuary of the A&M Methodist Church at 7:30. Rally speaker will be the Rev. Asbury Lenox, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Navasota. Following the rally, a reception will be held. All students are invited to attend both the rally and the reception. Resource leader in the field of visitation will be the Rev. Gene Sorley, director of the Midwestern University Wesley Foundation, Wichita Falls, where he has re cently completed a similar Mis- B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation Rabbi Bernard La vine, associate rabbi of Temple Beth Israel, Hous ton, will speak on the Dead Sea Scrolls at the 7:15 meeting this evening. The public is invited to attend the lecture, which will be held in the' upstairs room of the YMCA. St. Thomas Episcopal Chapel Featured on this evening’s Can terbury program will be a film and talk about work with the un derprivileged in the slum areas of large cities. Speaker will be the Rev. Mitchell Keppler, who is in change of St. Mary’s Mission in the Plouston slum area. Bethel Lutheran Church This evening’s vesper service be gins at 7:45 p. m. Pro ceeds will go toward furnishings for the new chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 a.m. Thursday and at 6:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Friday, which is Hie first Friday of the month. There will be the usual devotions to the Sacred Heart at both of the Friday Masses. Confessions will be heard before all Masses. Wesley Foundation The regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. today. A&M Presbyterian Church Choir practice is scheduled for 7 p. m., as well as the Westmins ter Fellowship program. Church of Christ Mid-week service begins at 7:15 tonight. Ladies Bible Class will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Faith Evangelical and Reformed Church Practice for the junior and sen ior choirs will be held at 7 and 8 p. m., respectively.
