Tigers Scream Toul Play’ In 9-6 Aggie Win By The Associated Press LSU backfield coach George Terry said Monday that movies showed the Aggies had an in eligible receiver downfield on its touchdown play in A&M’s 9-6 win over the Tigers. “The movies clearly show that Ken Beck, No.72, came down and cut into the territory of the pass receiver” said Terry. “I guess that happens about one hundred times during a football season. Officials can’t see everything. It was simply our misfortune to have it happen to us on such a key play.” At A&M Coach Bear Bryant, when told of Terry’s comments^ said: “I’m really not interested in what their movies show. It wouldn’t surprise me if you found six or eight men downfield because dur ing that first period, our players had to guess at what signal was called. It was impossible to hear for the noise of the LSU cheering section. And I didn’t notice anyone making an effort to prevail on the crowd to be quiet when we had the ball. If we were going to re-referee the game our movies showed sever al plays that could be pointed out. Frankly, we’re trying to get ready for Texas Tech this week. That’s our only interest.” out there,” commented Coach Paul Bryant. “We don’t do anything sharp—we’re not hitting anybody. “We don’t have any tough guys, nobody mean. We proved that at LSU. We were catching it there at the last and taking it instead of throwing it back at them.” Dee Powell Dee Powell, who blocked a Tiger punt attempt for a safety, has passed two-year starting center Lloyd Hale for the numbei’-one ball-snapping spot. “Powell is the highlight of every thing out there,” approved Bryant. “He played real well against LSU. He’s the only one who hits people. He’ll start Saturday.” Coach Paul Bryant’s most promis ing gi’idders. The 190-pound Port Neches flash stands 5-11 and won all-state recognition sparking his’ AAA high school team to a Texas championship. Larry Ward is scheduled for right end starting slot. The 200- pound all-stater is 6-1 and will probably see plenty of action this year. Bryon Caruthers will fill left end position for the Fish and Woody Rochelle is slated for left tackle duty. Caruthers is a 195 pound six-footer and Rochelle stands 6-21/2 weighing 210. Right tackle Gale Oliver is another 200 pounder standing 6-2. Bill Darwin, 215-pound 6-4 fresh man, has center position nailed down and Buddy Payne gets the nod for right guard. Payne is a 5-10 190 pounder. A1 Taylor, 210 5-10, will handle the left guard chore. Henry Colewell draws right half while LeBeouf takes the left side of the backfield. Colewell is 5-10 and carries 170 pounds. Fullback Bob Yeates weighs 180 and is 5-11. The Aggie Fish will attempt to strengthen their present lead in their series with the Kittens. Hous ton has taken only one game from A&M’s Fish eleven. The 1952 freshmen fell to the Kittens 26-21 and bounded back in 1954 for an avenging 31-6 win. Last year’s powerful Fish team nudged the Kittens 7-6 in a fumble-filled tussle on Kyle Field. A&M’s ROBBY CONRAD (40)—gathers in Roddy Os borne’s 13-yard pass to set up the Aggies’ only touchdown against LSU. Conrad was knocked out of bounds and fum bled the ball, but the catch was allowed. —Photo by Noble Eden. EYES EXAMINED GLASSES FITTED DR. E. LUEDEMANN DR. G. A.
