You begin the long ovei’land jour ney, in the meantime encounter ing several jovial remarks— “What’s that, Mania?”, “Hi, there, Poy Scout!”, and “Wanta fight, .soldier boy!” Finally, you reach the car and begin the mad dash to the stadium. After a three-hour struggle, you manage to reach the game, and you are somewhat shaken but still intact. You find the Aggie section and get with your Fish buddies for protection. The Aggie section is easy to find, because it is in the worst possible spot, behind the posts and in the sun. “They have to come, so why give them good seats, “seems to be the slogan among football ticket salesmen. After the kickoff, routine is the same as at home games—stand and wildcat, squeeze, or kiss your girl or anybody’s girl after the touchdown. You will know what to do by Corps Trip time, as you will already have been to several games. After the game ends—with Ag gies winning this season—you dash to the company party out at “Old Lucy’s Inn.” By now you have noticed that the keynote of the whole trip is rush, rush, rush. At the party, you enjoy your self to the utmost—dance with the soph’s girls, and even the jun iors’ if any of them have dates. Make yourself as big a nuisance as possible, because chances are the upperclassmen won’t remember a thing when they get back. After leaving the party in the wee hours, you have two choices. Here the decision is up to you. In any case, get back. You probably owe somebody money. As the corps drags back to school Sunday and Monday and even Tuesday (One Old Army fel low waited until Wednesday and told the Bulls that the Tessies had him in the dorm and wouldn’t let him go.), you begin the same old grind of classes and intramur als. You have your memories as you plan anxiously for the next corps trip. Next time you’ll be a veteran and know all the angles. After four years of this routine, they give you a diploma*—not for your scholastic achievements—but to show the world that you made it through eight Corps Trips and lived. Thirty-six foreign countries had 145 students enrolled in A&M in fall of 1955.
