Page 4 THE BATTALION Wednesday, December 7, 1955 Social Whirl Clubs Plan For Christmas Mechanical Engineering' Wives Club held their annual Christmas party Saturday in the Memorial Student Center social room. Included in the 50 guests at tending were Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Babcock, from California, and Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Gaddis. The semi-formal dinner dance be gan with dinner featuring fried chicken, potato salad, combination salad, rolls, and coffee. Decorations consisted of silver stars and tinsel ropes, a tinsel Christmas tree on the main table, and two large candles at the en trance. The punch bowl was sur rounded by pine branches, moss and Christmas ornaments. The 7-layer tiered cake was made by members of the club. Cof fee and peanuts were also served. The group played bridge following the refreshments. * * * The Aggie Wives Bridge Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Memorial Student Center. Hostesses will be Pat Henderson and Barbara Jones for the regu lars. For the intermediates host esses will be Sylvia Teague and Janie Johnston and beginners host esses are Mona Monical and Mar garet Brown. Prizes won last week in the reg ulars were high score, Maudene Chambers; low, Patti McAlexander and traveling slam, Joy Jones. Janie Johnston won high score prize in the intermediate section. Christmas Party will be Dec. 15 in the Guild Hall at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 906 Jersey St., College Station. * * * Animal Husbandry Wives Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the library of the Animal Hus bandry Building to elect officers. Committees were appointed at a recent meeting of the Petroleum Engineering Wives Club for their Christmas party. Scheduled for Dec. 16, the party will be at the Girl Scout Little House from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Committees appointed are: Vir ginia Ridings, entertainment; Jane Brown, refreshment; Polly Pruitt, and Doris Rosenbaum, decorations. Pakistan Native Is Main Speaker F or PSL Supper The Presbyterian Student League will hold a supper meeting tonight from 5 to 7:30 p.m. for the inter national students on the campus. Joe Good, a native of Pakistan, will speak on “Democracy in Ac tion” and will bring with him first copies of his book of the same title, which will appear in bookstores this week. Good, who is teaching philosophy at Baylor University, will return to his homeland in 1956 to be Vice Chancellor of Pakistan National University in Lahore. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, friut and vegetable salad, cheese sandwiches, cakes and coffee will be served to the group at the Pres byterian Student Center. Downs Jr., of ficial greeter for the college, an nounced today. 27 A&M Wesleyites Attend Assembly Near Palestine Twenty-seven Methodist students attended a Spiritual Life Retreat at Lakeview Methodist Assembly near Palestine Dec. 3 and 4. Planned jointly by the Wesley Foundation at Baylor, TSCW, SH- STC, NTSC, and A&M, the stu dents heard the Rev. Mr. Bob Breihan, director of the Texas Methodist Student Movement, dis cuss the personal relationship of the individual to God. Approximately 72 students rep resented the five schools in the discussions and worship periods. Those attending from A&M were Allen Pearson, Bill Libby, John Warner, Steve Love, Richard Dpr- rell, Bob Teague, Brady Armstrong, Tony Boyd, Paul Mason, Bill Stephenson. Members will string popcorn, make wreaths and Decoration Classes Set For Dec. 12-14 The Department of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture will hold their annual Woikshop on Christmas Decorations Dec. 12-14, according to A. F. DeWerth, head of the department. It will be held in the Floriculture Building. “This workshop is open to any one interested in learning how to make home Christmas decorations and is designed especially for be ginners,” DeWerth said. There will be three classes, lim ited to 20 persons, in the workshop so that everyone can be better ac commodated. Roland C. Dansby is present chair man. Other officers chosen to serve with Russell are Dr. E. E. Ivy, rep resenting College Station as vice- chairman; Charles Stasny of Hearne, representing Robertson County; and Wilbur J. Lee, repre senting Bryan as a vice-chairman. Recommended as district commis sioner for approval by the Sam Houston District Council was O. B. Donaho of Bryan, who has been serving as a vice-chairman for Bryan. Russell has been a scouter for 27 years. He was a former scout master, a member of the District Committee, an Operating Commit tee Chairman for 18 years, and a member of the Executive Board of the Sam Houston Area Council for six years.
