HUNTSVILLE — (iP) — A&M’s baseballers evened the score here Tuesday, stopping the Sam Houston Bearkats 3-1. The Aggies scored twice in the fourth inning on a single by left fielder Les Byrd, the Cadet captain, a double by catch er Jim Williams and a triple by third baseman Joe Schero. The visitors added another run in the fifth on Bill Ross’s stolen base after getting on with a, . , , , . , with the loss. Boales stopped the Cadets 9-3 in their season opener. Lefty Joe Curtis relieved Boales in the eighth. Boales struck out seven, allowed three runs on five hits and walked only one. Curtis gave up one hit. Munday struck out two, walked two, allowed three hits and no runs. Jerry Nelson struck out four and walked two. He gave up four hits and one run. A&M, winner of two of its three starts, plays Texas Lutheran in Seguin Saturday night, then meets the New Orleans Pelicans at Huntsville March 18. fielder’s choice.
