Wednesday, January 12, 1953 f>age 4 THE BATTALION AAUW Plans Two Speakers Friday Night Dr. Minnie Miller of Em poria, Kan., and Mrs. Erwin C. Ochsner of Amarillo will be guests of the College Sta tion - Bryan American Asso ciation of University Women Fri day at 7:45 p.m. at the Bryan Women’s club. Mrs. Ochsner is president of the Texas division of the AAUW. She will introduce Dr. Miller who will address the club on her experiences in helping to organize AAUW groups in South Amen'ca from where she has just returned from a tour. A leader in the AAUW, Dr. Mil- Iter is vice-president of the South- West central region of the AAUW. She is head of the department of foreign languages at Kansas State Teachers college, and has been decorated by the French govern ment for distinction in teaching French. Members of the Pan American Hound Table will join AAUW to hear Dr. Miller, and prospective members of the College Station- Bryan AAUW also are invited to attend the meeting. The dance will be open to all CHS students and their parents, and an admis- Vet Wives Set Meeting In MSC Dr. Nena Harris, pediatrician, will speak to the American Veter inarian Medical Association Stu dent Wives Auxiliary Thursday at 8 p.m. in the social room of the Memorial Student Center*. Dr. Harris will speak to the group on the pi’ominent diseases of children. Hostesses for the meeting will be committee members of the freshman, sophomoi’e, junior and senior wive’s clubs. Faculty wives of the School of Veterinary Medicine are invited. Dames Club Meets The Dames club met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. George' Potter for a social gathering and refresh ments. The new semestei* will begin Jan. 24, and report cards will be issued Jan. 26. Members of the senior* class who wish to order rings must have their deposits in the office by the end of the week. Officers Installed By Presbyterians The installation and ordination of church officers was held Sunday at 11 a.m. in the A&M Presbyter ian church. The officers installed were elders Dr. G. W. In addition to Bounds’ work in Italy, he has been in Europe at tending Baptist pastors’ confer ences. In 1954 he was a member of the Billy Graham team conduct ing the London evangelistic cru sade in Britain. He will relate some of his experiences during his messages at the vesper services. The Rev. Bounds was graduated from Hai din-Simmons university in 1947 and South-Western Bap tist Theological seminary in 1950. He was elected State Baptist Stu dent Union president for 1946-47 while at Hardin'-Simmons. Students who wish a conference with him are directed to call the Baptist Student Center for an ap pointment, or contact Cliff Harris, BSU director. Mrs. Shaffer Will Head Bridge Club Mrs. Mary Nell Shaffer was elected president of the Aggie Wives Bridge club at the club’s last meeting. Other officers elected were Mrs. Judy Hayeisj vice-president; Mrs. Joy Jones,, [secretary; Mrs. Mary Jo Boswell, treasurer; and Mrs. Joy BaldeJrach, reporter. The next meeting of the. Bridge club will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center. Hostesses for the evening will be Mrs. Joan Whisenhunt and Mrs. Mary Nell Shaffei* for the regulars, Mrs. Peggy Hildreth and Mrs. Lu- cile Pryor for the intermediates, and Mrs. Nell Shockley and Mrs. Chispa Bluntzer for the beginners.
