SHRIMP CREOLE Cook in two tablespoons of margarine and one large onion (chop ped) and blend in 2 tablespoons flour 1 can tomato paste 3 cups water % cup diced celery V2 teaspoon garlic salt Let simmer for 30 - 45 minutes. Serve over hot, flaky rice. BOILED SHRIMP Plunge one pound shrimp into generous amount of rapidly boiling salted water. Add one bay leaf. Put a piece of bread on the top of the water to absorb the odor. Cook about 15 minutes or until shells turn pink. Drain and rinse with cold water. Remove shell, legs and the black line that runs down the back. ICE BOX ROLLS % cup shortennng 1 egg ' 1 tablespoon salt 1 fresh yeast cake softened 1/3 cup sugar in small amount of water % cup boiling water 4 cups flour y 2 cup cold water tf/fe * **•*“ Mix shortening and sugar. Pour in the hot water and stir until shortening is only partly melted. Add cold water. Sift in one cup of flour and salt. Mix in the egg and dissolved yeast. Sift in the re maining amount of flour. Jdace dough in a greased mixing bowl and place in the ice box until you are ready to roll out. Roll out and let rise one hour before baking in a hot oven for about 20 minutes. ICE BOX COOKIES d 2 teaspoons baking powder V2 teaspoon salt Vanilla 1 cup floured nuts 1 cup shortening 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 2 eggs Sift in: 314 cups flour Wrap in wax paper and store, in ice box until ready to bake.
