The amendment to he voted on specifies that the legislature can not lower any of these salaries. No. 6: Toll Roads Amendment number six would take the state out of the toll road business. It would prohibit the state from assuming financial responsibility for the construction, maintenance, or operation of any toll roads in the state. In other words, the state could not back a toll road, thereby going into debt if the road loses money. There are two toll roads being built in Texas now—The Texas turnpike, from Houston to Dallas, and the Sam Houston turnpike, from San Antonio to Dallas.
