Delaplane was committee chairman in charge of the affair. The next dinner-dance, set for Oct. 21, will carry out a Halowe^n theme. Social Club Honors Newcomers At Tea The College Women’s Social club honored newcomers with a tea Fri day afternoon in the ballroom of the Memorial Student Center. Mrs. H. L. Heaton, Mrs. W. W. Armistead, Mrs. Ide P. Trotter and Mrs. C. N. Shepardson received the guests at the door. Guests were welcomed in the hall room by Mrs. Walter H. Dela plane, president; Mrs. C. W. Sim mons, general chairman; and Mrs. Chris H. Groneman, chairman of hostesses. During the tea hour Mrs. D. H. Morgan, Mrs. M. T. Harrington, Mrs. J. P. Abbott, Mrs. G. G. Gib son, Mrs. R. D. Lewis and Mrs. A. D. Folweiler received guests. Mrs. Simmons announced the program for the year, and Mrs. Lewis, vice - president and chair man of the interest groups intro duced group chairmen. They are Mrs. George Huebner, newcomers; Mrs. J. D. Lindsay, handicraft; Mrs. E. L. Harter, arts; Mrs. H. N. Abran*son, neighbor hood books; Mrs. L. S. O’Brannon, foods; Mrs. W. B. Martin, golf; and Mrs. George Draper, swim ming. Each chairman spoke of plans for her group. Mrs. J. S. Mogford and Mrs. J. H. Quisen- berry reported on two of the groups in the absence of the chairmen. Mrs. Simmons, who had arranged the program, introduced Paul Keele assistant to the Chaplain at Bryan Air Force Base. Mr. Keele sang “I Love Life,” “Great Day,” and “Bless This House.” Mrs. C. E. Gray, pianist, accompanied him. Punch and open faced sandwiches were served by Mrs. L. E. Angell, Mrs. T. O. Walton, Mrs. George Summey and Mrs. D. W. Williams. Mrs. Raymond Reiser was in charge of refreshments, and Mrs. J. M. Nance provided the name cards. Other hostesses were Mrs. Luth er Jones, Mrs. Curtis Godfrey, Mrs. Carroll Laverty, Mrs. D. F. Leip- per, Mrs. L. E. Stark, Mrs. Carl Tishler, Mrs. E. V. Walton, Mrs. M. K. Thornton, and Mrs. George Potter. Groneman Named To Magazine Staff Chris Groneman, head of the Industrial Education department, has been invited to serve on the editorial committee for School Shop magazine for four years. A program for the year was presented and accepted. Teachers will be selected for the Sunday school which will begin in October after the High Holidays. High Holiday services are being held jointly with the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation of A&M, and are being conducted by Jewish stu dents and embers of the Jewish congregation. New Year’s (Rosh Hashana) services were held Monday night and this morning at Temple Freda. Atonement Day (Yum Kippur) services will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 7 and 8, at 9:30 a.m. Oneg Sabath will follow the Rosh Hashana services and a Break-Fast, which is sponsored by the club, will be given at the close of Atonement Day for students and participants of the services. The same arrangements will be held for Sukkot services, Oct. 15. Next meeting of the club will be on Oct. 21 at the home of Mrs. Jake Davidoff, 109 Cavitt. Social Whirl Tuesday 8 p.m. Dames Club, for A&M students’ wives, will meet in the YMCA south solarium. . Wednesday 3 p.m. Newcomers club will be honored with informal lawn party at home of Mrs!’ M.' Not only Aggie talent, but also feminine perform ers will spark the show, which will include numbers ranging from ba ton twirling to piano solos. Aggies are invited. Show will be over in time for call to quarters. Choir practice at the A&M Christian church is at 7 p.m. Wed- desday, and the Bible study group meets at 715. Bob Davidson of the Church of Christ will teach a special training class for Aggies beginning Wed nesday night. A devotional period is planned for 7:15. Following that, the Aggies who wish to attend the training class will go to the church library, and those remaining will attend the regular prayer meeting service. —o— Church of the Nazarene regular Wednesday night prayer meeting time is 7:30. Choir practice will be held at the A&M Methodist church at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. —o— Cliff Harris of the Baptist Stu dent union announced vespers at the union Monday, Tuesday, Thurs day and Friday from 7 to 7:25 p.m. Weekly workers’ supper and teachers’ meeting at the First Bap tist church are at 6 and 6:15 p.m. —o— Vespers will be held at the Bethel Lutheran church Wednesday night at 7:45. Christian Science services for this week include a meeting of the college organization Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Special services led by the Rev. E. V. Long of St. Martin’s Luther an church in Austin are being held tonight through Thursday at 7:30 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church.,. Following the special services Wednesday night the Lutheran Stu dent association will meet to make plans for the conference trip to Brenham this weekend. Glen Specht, a senior at A&M and presi dent of the Gulf Region Lutheran Student association, will be chair man of the conference. ■—o— Aggies are invited to choir prac tice at the Faith Evangelical and Reformed church Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Week’s activities at the College Heights Assembly of God church include prayer meeting at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, men’s fellowship CE Wives Club To Be Organized A new club, the Civil Engineering- Wives Club, will be organized Wed nesday night at the home of Mrs. James B. Baty, 600 Jersey South in College Station. Time of the meeting is 7:45. A committee to form a constitu tion will be appointed and officers will be elected. Wives of civil engineering, ma jors are eligiblt to join the club. Mrs. Lawrence A. DuBose and Mrs. S. R. Wright will be Mrs. Baty’s co-hostesses.
