Tumbling Classes Starts Yesterday Classes started yesterday for the eecond term of the Recreation council’s tumbling. Les Palmer is the instructor and K. A. (Kubby) Manning is the council chairman for tumbling. The classes are held at A&M Consolidated school, and there is no fee. Mrs. Jackson Is WSCS Hostess The Women’s Society of Chris tian Service of the A&M Methodist church met in regular session Mon day, July 12, in the home of Mrs. R. L. Jackson, 401 Cross street. Mrs. K. R. Bailey led the group in a devotional entitled “Through the Day with God.” Mrs. John Kincannon, Mrs. A. E. Denton and Mrs. W. W. Mills pre sented the program for the eve ning on the theme “The Entrance of Thy Word Giveth Light.” Mrs. Stewart Brown, president, presided over the business meeting. Mrs. J. R. Hillman gave a brief preview of programs for the fol lowing year. Reports were heard from the various- secretaries. Plans were formulated for the zone meeting to be held in the home church August 11. A delightful summertime re freshment plate of punch, melon balls and sandwiches was served 34 members and guests by the hostess and co-hostesses, Mrs. John Bertrand and Mrs. J. J. Sper ry. She also captured the high se ries honors for her 509. Last weeks session left only one more meeting of play during this summer’s league schedule and the Dumbbelles team held a comfor table four-game lead over their closest opponent, the Cuddies team. Dot Moore of the Sabres team received high individual game hon ors for bowling 169 at last week’s meeting of the Bryan air force Officers’ Wives league at the Me morial Student Center. She also received high series honors for her 471 series. Geiger Bowls High In All-Star Group John M. Geiger, manager and bowling instiuctor at the Bowling and Games department of the Memorial Student Center, bowled a 217 for high game at last week’s meeting of the All-Star Summer league. F. E. Weston captured the high individual series honors, rolling a 563. Conway & Co. took over the league lead by defeating the first place Faulk’s Auto Supply by four points. In other games of the evening. Student Co-Op won four points from Ottea Dusting Co., and Field Maintenance Squadron won three out of four points from the Bryan Air Force Base Jets. Other men who bowled games of 200 or over are Mike Hei'itage, Jim McDonald, Charlie Pai*nham, and Joe Foster, all 200; Frank Smith, 202; and F. E. Mose ley of C-l-B College View, was re cently awarded a diploma by the air force Extension Course insti tute for successfully completing the Academic Instructor Corres pondence course. ECI courses are patterned after the instruction given in resident air force schools These correspondence courses are open to qualified members of the Armed Forces, Civil Air Patrol, and civilian employees of the air force. Lt. Adkins Wins Army Promotion Second lieutenant William Gray Adkins of 1314 Milner has been promoted to first lieutenant. In the ordnance corps, he is stationed in Austin.
