THE BATTALION Thursday, September 24, 1953 Page 6 Aggie Wives Bridge Club Meets Tonight in YMCA The Aggie Wives Bridge club will meet at 7:30 tonight at' the YMCA. Hostesses have been chosen for each ability group for this meet ing. In charge of the advanced group Dames Club Sets Op en House Date The Dames club, an organization for all Aggie wives, set 8 p. m. Oct. 13, as the time for the fall open house. The first fall meeting of the club was held at 8 p. rn. Tuesday in the South Solarium of the YMCA. “Everyone who has ever been a member, is a member, or would like to be a member is invited,” said Bobbie Riche, Dames presi dent. She explained that any wife whose husband was a full or part time student was eligible for mem bership. At the Tuesday meeting, the president introduced Mrs. George E. Potter, the new sponsor, who gave the welcoming address. A social evening of bridge and canasta followed the discussion of the open house. are Jeanne Cline and Carol Pil grim. Hostesses for the interme diate group are Rachel Fowler and Mary Bradley. Hostesses for the largest group, the beginners, are Martha Thomas and Shirley Bean. After this week the club will begin meeting at the Memorial Student Center. Seventeen tables played at last Thursday’s meeting. Hostesses were Mrs. La Rue Bevier and Mrs. Gwin Smith. There were eight tables in the beginners group. Mrs. E. L. An- gell instructed them. Mrs. E. E. McQuillan helped the intermedi ates. High prize winner in the in termediate group was Jeneatte Williams. High prize winner for the even ing at the six tables in the re gular group was Catherine Sep- pell. Mrs. Silbv Named Club’s Guest Artist Mrs. Reginald C. Silby will be guest artist at the opening meet-, ing of the College Women’s So cial club at 3 p. m. Former Student Named West Point Corporal Aggie-Ex Awarded Oak Leaf Cluster Stanley R. Sydenham, an A&M former student, has been appointed a cadet corporal in the West Point corps of cadets. He ehtered the academy on a presidential appointment. He is the son of Col. and Mrs. H. R. Syden ham, now stationed at Ft. Mc Pherson, Ga. First Lt. James L. Brown, ’51, has been awarded a third oak leaf cluster to his air medal. Brown was decorated for “meritorious achievement” while flying an F-80 fighter, an air force release said. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Brown, 3813 Frazier, Fort Worth. A&M Business Society Meeting Cancelled The A&M Business society meet ing scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today in the Memorial Student Center has been cancelled. The meeting was called off be cause of a room mix-up in the MSC. Arrangements are being made to hold the meeting Tues day, said Josh (Mitch) Spadachene, society president.
