Page 4 THE BATTALION Thursday,. October 9* 1952 The Women’s Story Aggies Can Pick Talentand Women By PEGGY MADDOX Battalion Women’s Editor When it comes to talent and women, the Aggies seem to know where to find it. Last weekend when the Cafe Rue Pinalle opened its doors for the first time this fall, the petite singing and dancing star from Fort Worth, Miss Carmen Hines, vocalized an expressive rendition of- “Give Me a Little Kiss.” Carmen appeared on Arthur Godfrey’s talent show this summer. • A group of young women who are seeking to raise their educa tional standards as well as their social are the members of the local Dames Club. Sunday afternoon they entertained about 50 new and prospective members at a tea in the home of Mrs. Ide P. Trotter. Mi-s. Trotter was assisted with the hostess duties by the other two sponsors, Mrs. Noi’man F. Rode and Mrs. R. D. Lewis. Assisting in the houseparty were Mrs. Elinor Holland, Mrs. Shirley Mahan, Mrs. G. W. Adriance, Mrs. Marge Dolan, Mrs. Mar garet Menzel, Mrs. Marilyn Dieckert and Mrs. Marge Trenckman. We want all the latest news about women. Every Thursday we will bring you “The Women’s Story.” The news doesn’t always travel to The Battalion office. If your club or friends are doing something of interest, call 4-5444. For instance, this week two babies were born to College Station residents. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Warren are the parents of a boy and S/Sgt. and Mrs. Robert Geice are the parents of a girl. Mrs. LaVerne Blaylock, publicity chairman, invites all wives of I. E. majors to join the other girls whose husbands are pursuing the same course to come to a get acquainted social at the home of Mrs. Chris Groneman Tuesday at 8 p. m. The last of the Vet wives class clubs to organize was the fresh man group. Mrs. Betty Jo Moore, president of the sophomore wives, helped the girls get acquainted with the club procedures Tuesday night. Mrs. Gene Beard was elected president. She will be assisted by Mrs. Irene Larson, vice president, Mrs. Hallie Bismukes, secretary and Mrs. Eleanor Zimicki, treasurer-reporter. Tuesday Room 2A in the MSC was “flowing” over with Dames and visitors as Frank Coulter dis cussed choosing accessories now which will fit into the home of tomorrow. For years married couples have griped about not having recrea tion just for “mai-ried couples.” The MSC is trying to help us out. They have formed a Married Cou ples Committee which will present the second informal dance for married couples Saturday night at 8 p. m. in the Social Room of the MSC. If you have never attended before, the dance is FREE, Bud Griffin, the chairman tells me. The dues are 50 cents a couple per semester.
