Another Great Texas Product Cinderella Men’s Choral Groap Perform At Staff Dinner The newly-organized Men’s Community Choral Club of Bryan and College Station performed publicly for the first time Wednesday night at the annual Christmas dinner of | A&M at Sbisa Hall. Under the direction of Bill Tur ner, the 25 members of the group sang three Christmas carols, “God Rest You, Merry Gentlemen,” “Si lent Night” and “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing.” They also gave a novelty rendi tion of “Jingle Bells” and sang “The Winter Song.” Soloist was R. L. Boone, music teacher at A&M Consolidated High School. Honored guests at the dinner were 30 employees of the A&M System who completed 25 years of service this year. G. “Spike” White first place in the miscellaneous section. A pine rope with strings of Christmas lights bordered the doorway. This display won for Mrs. White $5 cash, Colege Station Chamber of Commerce; $5 Gift Certificate, Pruitt’s Fabric Shop; free car wash, grease, and oil change, Tom McCall’s Phillips 66 Service Sta tion; and $5 in paint and supplies, Marion Pugh Lumber Co. Two College View apartments boasted elaborate displays taking the first prizes in both sections of the married students division of the contest. Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Adidance, co-sponsor of the Aggie Wives Bridge Club with Mrs. E. L. Angell, gave a tea for the bridge-players in her home, 500 W. Dexter S, Tuesday evening. Lasting from 7:30 until 9:30 p. m., the tea was a “come and go,” with guests ^served from a table decorated with fruit and candles. Volunteer teachers for begin ning bridge players at the regular Thursday night meetings assisted the hostess in hospitalities. The teachers are Mrs. D. W. Williams, Mrs. H. E. Burgess, Mrs. E. E. Second place in married students’ window' section went to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pearce, 305 Cooner, for their hand-made manger scene. They were awarded $5 paint and supplies, Marion Pugh Lumber Co.; $5 washing and drying service, The Laundromat, and Dinner for two at ,the Campus Confectionery. Mr. and Mrs. Carl S. Williams, 421 Kyle, took third place with a tempra-painted picture window featuring Santa Claus. The, Williams won $5 service from the Southside Laundrette, $2.50 in groceries from Charlie’s Food Market, and barber service for Mr. Williams from the North Gate Barber Shop. Robert Ory, D-7-Z College View, won first place in the miscellan eous section. His Santa, sleigh, and reinder w'ere all constructed from cardboard, and lighted with a string of tree lights. For this display, Robert was awarded $5 cash, College Station Chamber of Commerce; $5 in gro ceries, Mais Supermarket; $5 cleaning service, Aggie Cleaners; and Dinner for Two at the B&B Grill. Other entries in the married stu- Mrs. Suggs 9 Kin Killed In Korea A cousin of Mrs. R. E. Snuggs, 1023 Harrington E., was killed in action in Korea on Dec. 6. Captain William S. McCarson, a pilot with the Uniter States Ma rine Corps, has been reported killed in action. McCarson, a fresh man at A&M in 1939, had been in Korea since August. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Booth McCarson of Boling. Mc- Carsons w r as married and the fath er of a one month old daughter. Judges for the home decorations were Mrs. A. B. Nelson, Mrs. S. L. Loveless, Mrs. Armstrong Price, and Mrs. W. W. Armistead. In the Dormitory division the Army Security Agency company won first place for the decora tion it displayed. Squadron L took second place, and D. Squadron was awarded third prize. The only outfit to put up a Christmas sign was C Artillery. For its efforts, $5 cash from Eu gene Rush, and $5 cash from the College Station Chamber of Com merce w'ill be added to the company fund of C Artillery. The Army Security Agency will receive $5 cash from Leon B. Weiss Clothing Storo, $5 cash from A. M. Waldrop and Co., and a free dish of ice cream for every man in the company, from Lips comb’s Pharmacy. Squadron L will add $5 to its fund, from WSD Clothiers. Zubik’s Tailors will award $5 to C Artil lery for its decoration. Promenade Club Plans Yule Party The square dancing “Promen- aders Club” will swing their part ners at a Christmas party Satur day night at 8 in the A&M Con solidated gym, according to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Burchard, club chairmen. “A unique Christmas gift idea is planned,” said Burchard. “Each male member of the club will purchase a feminine type gift, and each lady will buy something useful for the man. While danc ing in counter-rotating circles to a “Paul Jones”, the man and wom an stopping opposite each other will exchange gifts when the whis tle is blown.” McGinnis NIMC District Chairman N. M. McGinnis, College Sta tion city-secretary, has been ap pointed district membership chair man of the National Institute of Municipal Clerks. He will guide the organization’s 1952 membership campaign in a 29-county area of Texas. The appointment was made by NIMC Texas state Chairman Har old G. Shank, city secretary of Dallas, in preparation for the an nual conference of City Clerks and Secretaries which will be held in Dallas May 2.1-23. McGinnis was selected for the district chairmanship on the basis of his active support of the NIMC and its aim of creating better re lationships between city officials and the public. H, Burgess Home Open Christmas Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Burgess, 124 Lee Street South, will hold an open house Christmas afternoon. Burgess, local insurance man and realtor, is a graduate of A&M. Kindergarten Has ‘Cinderella’ Play “Cinderella,” starring Sue Med len and Pete Coffee, was present ed Tuesday evening in the MSC Ballroom by Mrs. R, R. Lyle’s Wee Aggieland Kindergarten. Narrator John Dawn presented the 60 lords and ladies, aged 4 and 5, dressed in courtly array. Mas ter Dawn also related the tale, which was acted and sung by the royal party. Using music from the moving picture, the tots presented the age- old fairy tale. This was the first musical pro duction by Mrs. Lyle’s school this year; the second one is slated for spring. Following the show, the Kinder garten group was visited by San ta Claus, who had gifts for all of the actors. City Hall to Have Open House Soon Open House will be held in the City Hall on Saturday morning from 9 to 12, according to Ray mond Rogers, city manager. Rogers said city officials would be present to greet callers. He stated that fruit cake and coffee would be served. Rogers said all citizens of Col lege Station were invited to be pre sent.
