Letters (Continued from Page 2) when Mr. Rankin was elected would have, if they had gone to the polls, voted the way you would have liked fob them to ? I also feel sure that Mr. Rankin’s platform was made quite clear concerning his stand on the racial issue you play up. Did not the people of Miss issippi choose him as their repre sentative and do you not think that his platform was considered before his was chosen? Perhaps, as you editorial would seem to indicate, you would have liked for Mr. Rankin, while an elected representative of the peo ple of Mississippi, to completely disregard the wishes of those peo ple he represented and instead pro claim far and wide an entirely dif ferent platform set up for him by the unerring Battalion Staff. An important new regulation covers the eligibility of a senior to apply for a degree. A senior must be able to complete his required number of grade points without making over a 1.5 grade point ratio in his last semester to be eligible. No Validating Quiz Corresponding course may now be taken under the supervision of the Registrar and no validating ex amination will be necessary as has always been the case before. A change in the add and drop policy will permit classes to be dropped two weeks after registra tion without penalty instead of one week as it was last year. The last change that will affect students this semester is the new final exam schedule. All exams will be taken according to the hour at which the class is met and all conflicts will he eliminated. Exams for courses with only one lecture hour will last one hour according to the new regulations and the exam will be given during the last regularly scheduled lecture period. In the churches of our community new friend ships are being made every day. Here children learn the lesson of sharing as they work and play together. Here boy meets girl in the most whole some environment the world can offer. Here wed ding bells ring as couples seal their devotion with the sacred vows of marriage. Here people worship and serve together, finding strength in their mutual quest for spiritual realities. Here those in the sunset of life cure the loneliness of old age with happy companionship. Turn to the Church for the deep, lasting, en riching friendships you need. They are part of the practice of Christianity—part of the riches to which the Church guides us. It was Jesus who taught: LOVE ONE AN OTHER, EVEN AS I HAVE LOVED YOU. THE CHUHCH FOR ALL . . . ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest fac tor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship, ft is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and sup port the Church. They are: (1)’ For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and ma terial support.
