The Big Seven Conference,'
spurred on by record performan
ces of two sophomores, won its
first duel of champions track and
field victory over the Southwest
Conference by the surprising
score of 80-6l Saturday night.
The Big Seven wrapped up
the victory after 12 events. The
Southwest won the first meet
two years ago. Last year’s meet
was a tie, with the, last event
deciding the outcome both times.
Bill McGuire Of Missouri and
Pat Bowers of Kansas, both so
phomores, broke meet records
ffor the milje and half-mile runs,
respectively, in the fastest races
they ever had run. ,
McGuire traveled the mile in
4:13.8. ,.Bowers got the 880 in

The Southwest champions took
