House Tie Vote
AUSTIN, Tex., May 13 <*> —
House penny-pinchers yesterday
defeated by tie vote an amendment
which would have added $246,000
to the 68 million dollar bill pro
viding funds for state-supported
dolleges the next two years.
The vote was 62-62 on a pro
posal by Rep. Arthur E. Gromatzky
of Priddy to increase the appro
priation for the Texas A&M Col
lege Extension Service from $539,-
000 to $662,000 a year.
Tie votes defeated amendmenta
to bills.

Aggie Debate Men
Bow to Rice Team
This weekend the two Aggie De
bate teams were beaten by the
Rice orators. The teams were made
up of Larry Goodwyn and Jim
Stevens on the first team, James
Farmer and George Grupe on the
second.
The subject for the debate was
“Resolved: the Federal Govern
ment should Adopt a Policy of Aid
to Tax Supported Schools by
Means of Annual Grants.” Gopd-
wyn and Stevens supported the
affirmative and Farmer and Grupe
took the negative.
