Allen in twenty- five seconds of the second round, after winning the first with a knockdown; F< W. Snyder defeat ed J. M. Schaefer, 149 lb, men, by a TKO in the second round. J. R. Stripling won over L. A. Holmes, 149 pounders, by a decis ion; W. A. Topperweio decisioned P. J. Saunders. E. N. Swirsky defeated N. E. Welch, 159 pound fighters, with a decision; D. E. Boyne Tate of the Fish was \ the pacemaker Of tke tourna ment winning his singles match against BUI Bonham, 6-3, 8-3, and teaming with R. G. DeBerry to drop Julian Oates and Ber nard Gerhard! In the final and crucial match of the meet, 7-5, 7-9, 6-4. ■ / ,\ In the other matches played Bernard Gerhardt of the Year lings defeated Bobby Duncan, 8-4, 6- 3; Aaron Cohen of the Fish lost to CharUe Bludworfc, 7-9. 6-1, 3-6; Duncan and Cohen outplayed and defeated Bludworth and Bonham, in the number two doubles match; 7- 5, 3-6, 6-0. \ In the big singles match of the day. Oates defeated DeBerry in a close match which is not indi cated by the score. The match wax played in the DeWare Field House. Oates' big-bertha serve was the determining factor in this match, since the hardwood floor made Oates' serve bounce higher and faster than It woqid have had on clay, The final doubles match, also playid In the field house, proved to be the moat Interesting to the spectators. The entire match wgs filled with spectacular serving and net play, especially by Tate.
