January, 1948 Page 7 .AX—-jfc— r> . The fiftieth anniversary of the Battalion under that name came in 1943, when the college, like the nation, was deep in World War II. Celebration was postponed to this year, which is also the seventieth year of publication under various names. Judge E. L. Bruce of Orange, first editor of the Batt, was voted a life-time subscription to the paper. Judge Bruce, now more than 70 years old, was unable to visit the campus this winter, but the subscription was officially presented to him by Charles Murray, co-editor, through Bill Butler, secretary of the Orange A. & M.
