Those students should check with the Registrar and have available a list of courses to be taken during the summer and fall terms which are required for graduation. Squeals on Himself Right in the middle of a safe cracking job, a thief in New Brit ain, Connecticut decided that crime doesn’t pay. So he picked up the telephone, called police headquar ters, and asked to be arrested. When police arrived at the office, they found him fiddling with the dial which he had knocked off the safe. No money had been stolen. The next day a puzzled judge heard the story and ruled that the thief should be held for grand jury. Cox, State Health Officer, has released the following statement: Every crippled child in Texas, under 21 years of age, and of nor mal mentality whose parents are unable to pay for needed care, is entitled to assistance from this Division. Assistance may be obtained by applying to the Crippled Children’s Division, Texas State Department of Health, Austin, or by placing an application through an estab lished city or county health unit. Full information about local groups and organizations through out the state who are anxious to assist crippled children to estab lish their eligibility and receive proper care, may be had by writ ing for a pamphlet, ‘“Handbook on Agencies.” Address Crippled Chil dren’s Division, State Department of Health, Austin. This battalion is part of the 49th Armored Division, one of two National Guard Armored Divisions in the United States. Captain T. G. Campbell is to-f head Company C, and Captain F. A. (Bud) Clark will command Headquarters and Headquarters Company. They open the enlist ments on Wednesday, February 19, 7:30 p. m., at the Chamber of Commerce, Bryan. Special information regarding National Guard is important to men who at present are on the G. I. program in any way. The Adjutant General, State of Texas, has interpreted current rulings to mean that pay for drill in the Na tional Guard may be received by ex-service men without jeopardiz ing or affecting their receiving the maximum allowance of subsistence pay or on the job training under the G. I. Bill of Rights. Furthermore, all personnel who are in the organized Reserves can resign from the Reserves and en list in the National Guard without preventing a return to the Re serves later if desired. It is pos sible for a man to advance in the Guards * and, should he obtain a higher rank, he may keep that rank in the event of an emergency. New Insect Repellent Cited A new insect repellent, known as Formula 6-12, smells like witch hazel and can be spread on hands and face. Memorandum No. 45 February 14. 1947 Subject: Dance Accommodations for Ladies To: All Students 1. In compliance with the request of the Committee in charge, and with the approval of the organization commanders concerned. Dormitory 2 will be used to provide accommodations for visiting girls attending the Freshman and George Wash ington Balls FRIDAY and SATURDAY nights, February 21 & 22, 1947. 2. Students having guests will be as sessed a change of $.75 per night per guest to cover cost of matron, maid ser vice, and other incidental expenses. Re funds cannot be made. 3. Guests staying in the dormitory must be in not later than 2:00 A. M. FRIDAY night and 1:00 A. M. SATUR DAY night. Guests must check in with the matron upon their return to the dor mitory after the dances. When reser vations have been made for the guests, they will not be permitted to check out until departure for their homes. This will be done with the matron. Escorts will be held strictly accountable for com pliance with these instructions. 4 Cadets living in Dormitory 2 must vacate their rooms by 1:00 P. M., FRI DAY, 21 February 194. 57. From 1:00 to 3:00 P. M. students having guests will prepare the rooms for reception of guests. Students will furnish linens, towels, etc. Escorts will be held responsible for all equipment and supplies in rooms. 6. Guests will be admitted to their rooms at 4:00 P. M. FRIDAY 21 Febru ary 1947, and must be vacated by 11:30 A. M. SUNDAY. Luggage will be re moved from the rooms and the doors locked promptly at 11:30 A. M. The College cannot be responsible for per sonal property of any guest or student. 7. Room assignments may be made by students living in Dormitory 2 who wish to reserve own room at 8:00 A. M. MON DAY 17 February 1947. Beginning at 8:00 A. M. Tuesday 18 February other students having guest for the Freshman Ball may sign for their guests. Students can secure these assignments in the PLACEMENT OFFICE, Room 126, Ad ministration Building. 8. P. G.
