JERRCL If you find that introductions are not easy for you, why not learn the rules and practice them until you are sure of yourself. A recent authority on manners has the following simple rules— easy to remember: The first rule to remember and one without exception is: Mention first the name of the person to whom deference is being shown. The principle underlying all in troductions between men and wom en is that it is an honor for a man to be introduced to a woman; therefore, the woman’s name is mentioned first. The usual form would be: “Miss Smith, may I in troduce Mr. Beard?” A young woman is introduced to an older woman: “Mrs. Old, this is Miss Young.” We have Brown Rubber Heels Any Size Holick’s Boot Shop Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday October 10-13 Frank Sinatra — in — “ANCHORS AWEIGH” PATCHES LAUTERSTEIN’S PHONE 4-4444 214 SOUTH MAIN BRYAN, TEXAS A young man is introduced to an older man: “Mr. Fifty, may I in troduce Mr. Twenty?” A person of lesser rank is in troduced to one of higher rank: “Major Brown, may I introduce Lieutenant Greer?” The proper response to an in troduction, by both men and wom en, is, “How do you do!’, but the name may be added if you wish.
