WTAW Batt Chat The Four Vagabonds will pre sent those poignant arboreal arias, “Poinciana ,, and “Magic of Mag nolias,” on their BLUE Network program of songs, Friday, June 16, at 6:00-6:15 p.m., CWT. The velvet-voiced foursome also will sing “Pretty Kitty Blue Eyes,” “Coming in on a Wing and a Prayer”, and “Aint’cha Got No Time For Love?” Dorothy Maynor, celebrated soprano, and the accomplished piano duo of Arthur Whittemore and Jack Lowe will be the guest artists on the RCA program, The Music America Loves Best, Satur day, June 17, at 6:30 p.m., CWT, over the BLUE Network. All three are RCA-Victor recording artists on WTAW. The program will open with “I Want to Be Happy” from Vincent Youman’s “No, No, Nanette, by the RCA-Victor Chorus. Miss Maynor’s numbers will be “Dequis le Jour” from “Louise” by Charpentier, and the Negro spiritual, “Nobody Knows De Trouble I’ve Seen.” At the twin pianos, Whittemore and Lowe will offer Ravel’s “Bol ero” and “Begin the Beguine” from Cole Porter’s “Jubilee,” accompan ied in both selections by the or chestra will combine efforts in “The Continental” and the program will close with “Gimme Dat Ole Time Religion,” in which Dorothy Maynor will be joined by the chorus. Christina Carroll, Metropolitan Opera soprano, who, when only 12, prematurely described herself as an opera singer, and Met bari tone, Martial Singher, who’s been heard on three continents, will co- LOUPOT’S Watch Dog of the Aggies star as guests on the BLUE Net work’s World of Song program, Sunday, June 18, at 3:30 p.m., CWT on WTAW. Miss Carroll’s selections are the “Musette Faltz” from “La Boheme” and “The World Is Mine Tonight”. Singher will be heard in “Palaisir D’Amour” and Mas senet’s “Elegie”. Wilfred Pelletier will conduct the orchestra in an elaborate new arrangement of “Speak Low” from “One Touch of Venus,” and the entire com pany will be heard in a medley from the operetta “Ciboulette.” Three continents on which Singher has sung are Europe (Paris Grand Opera Company), South America (Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires) and, of course, the Metropolitan in New York. Folks who did their dancing back in the early Rudy Valee days will be reminded of the curly-haired crooner, now a Coast Guard offi cer, when “Girl of My Dreams” is included on the BLUE Net work’s Keepsakes program, Sun day, June 18, at 7:30 p.m., CWT, on WTAW. Other selections to be sung by Dorothy Kirsten, soprano, Mack Harrell, baritone, and the chorus, and played by Tom Jones’ or chestra, are: “Suppose I Had Nev er Met You,” “Carlonia in the Morning,” “I’Jl Bacchic,” “Oh, Miss Hannah,” “The Bubble,” “Di Provenza II Mar” and “Auf Weid- ersehn.” The swift romance of a girl who elopes with a sailor and keeps the marriage a secret from her mother because of the latter’s heart condition, will be dramatized on the BLUE Network’s My True Story broadcast, Thursday, June 15, at 9:15 a.m., CWT, on WTAW. The girl not only keeps the sec ret from her mother, but also from her sister with whom she has heretofore shared all confi dences. However, when she learns that her sister is also married secretly and is to have a baby she tells the whole story. The result of her disclosures will be revealed on Thursday’s broad cast of the Blue Network’s true- life dramas, heard Monday through Fridays at 9:15 a.m., CWT. Capt. Sam Logan, U. S. Ma rine Corps fighter pilot, who was viciously attacked by a Jap ZeZro while parachuting down from his damaged Corsair, will comment on his miraculous escape via the Blue Network broadcast of Meet Your Navy, Friday, June 16, at 7:30 p.m., CWT, on WTAW. The dramatized portion of the program will describe how Captain Logan bailed out of his riddled plane in a dog-fight near the Rus sell Islands. As he dritfed over the sea, a Jap airman made four pass es, attempting to catch the cap tain in the whirling propeller blades. In one pass his foot was severed, but he nevertheless man aged to inflate a rubber boat, doc tor the stump of his ankle and re main conscious until rescued. In the musical segment of the show the Bouncing Bluejacket Bowmen will play “Sleepy Gal” and the Great Lakes Orchestra will offer fresh arrangements of “I’ll Get By,” “Anchors in the Sky”, and “Falling in Love with Love.” A bluejacket soloist will sing “Swinging on a Star” and the choir of 200 voices will intone “O, God of Love.” Meet Your Navy, a weekly pre sentation of the Blue Network, originates at the U.S. Naval Train ing Center, Great Lakes, 111. Twenty-one Stars,” new musical variety series that will present headliners of the entertainment world who are now in uniform, and graphically describe the var ied functions of the U. S. Army Service Forces, will be unveiled via the Blue Network, Saturday, June 17, at 2:02-2:30 p.m, CWT, on WTAW. Guest on the premiere broadcast will be Brig. Gen. Joe Battley, Deputy Chief of Staff of Service Commands, who will be interview ed by “Sergeant Steed.” The lat ter, portrayed by an actor still to be chosen, will serve as narra tor for the series. Privates Buddy Clark and Bob Eberle, both topnotch singers in civilian life, will occupy the solo HIGHLIGHTS ON INVASION Jn scoring an exclusive scoop in Chicago on reporting the Ger man news agency story that the Allies had invaded Western Europe, the Blue Network’s Central Divi sion had its list of interesting hap penings as they pertained to many employees. * * * * John Bryson, Blue announcer j spotlight. A serious and sincere gent, Bryson was part of an invasion bull-session held among fellow an nouncers some five weeks ago.
