is victim of the week’s surprise.
His brother, David Ayres, a mem
ber of the United States Navy,
came here for training as a radio
technician. The two brothers lived
in Great Falls, Montana prior to
enlistment in service.
By a streak of coincidence, the
two brothers were stationed close
together once before; Arthur was
at Ft. George Wright, Spokane,
Washington, while his bud David
was at Farragut, Idaho, only six
ty miles distant.

for the Fall with the Pack meet
ing at 7:30 p. m. Thursday, Sep
tember 16 in the gymnasium of the
Consolidated School, according to
Dr. Ide P. Trotter, Chairman of
the Cub Scout Committee.
Although Cubbing has not been
pushed throughout the entire sum
mer, some of the Dens have con
tinued their work with only very
short periods in which meetings
were not held. Some outstanding
advancements have been made by
those Cubs who remained active
including some very unusual shop
work .
All parents of boys of Cub age
from nine through eleven, in the
College Station area are invited to
attend this meeting and bring
their Cub or propective Cub. It is
especially desired that new boys
in the community be present.
Any Cub or any Den having
examples of outstanding work
they have done during the summer
is requested to bring it along for
display at the Pack meeting. A full
attendance is desired in order that
registration may be planned and
completed promptly and the work
of the year gotten under way in
the quickest possible time.
Each Cub Den is expected to
have one Cub prepared to make a
two-minute talk on a topic like
“What I Get out of Cubbing.”
From the three talks of this type
made to the Pack the audience
will be asked to select the Cub
and the talk they consider best
qualified for presentation on the
Boys Scout Radio Program, Sep
tember 21. Some Cub has a chance
to break into radio and it is ex
pected the competition will be
keen.
Law Enforcement
Officers Will Meet
At Navasota Friday
HOUSTON, Texas, Sept. 15,—
(Special)—Law enforcement offi
cers from Brazos, Fayette, Wilier,
Austin, Grimes and neighboring
counties will be in attendance Fri
day when M. S. Brewton, Navasota
City Marshal, and Earl Harris,
Sheriff of Grimes County, act as
hosts at the FBI quarterly police
conference to be held in the Queen
Theater at Navasota at 1 p. m.
R. J. Abbaticchio Jr., Special
Agent in Charge of the FBI office
here, has announced a program
for the meeting, that will include
discussions of vital police im
portance and the showing of seve
ral motion pictures.
“Of paramount interest,” Mr.
Abbaticchio said, “will be a dis
cussion of juvenile delinquency
in wartime by Inspector L. D. Mor
rison of the Houston Police De
partment. Inspector Morrison is a
man who, through experience, is
well versed in the subject of crime
among youth. I am sure that his
remarks—and the general forum
to follow—will be helpful to all of
ficers, especially in view of the
seriousness of the juvenile delin
quency problem today.”
How the Texas Rangers were
bom and grew into the nation’s
number state police organization
will be brought out in a historical
survey of law enforcement by a
Special Agent in another feature
of the conference, Mr. Abbaticchio
said.
