But Thursday on Memorial Field the Fighting Aggies will take to the field determined to share “It” with no one. If the weather remains as it has been the last few days, the game will probably be a repetition of the Southern Mustang duel, fans will go by boat, and thousands will take to the radio rather than to the stands. But to the Aggies and the corps, neither rain nor flood could hold them back from taking “forty acres” by storm and by game. On paper the teams appear even ly matched until losses are con sidered. Pete Layden has accounted for the largest number of yards for the steers, marking 441 on the gain side and 172 on the loss side. Jackie Crain has 349 on the black side and 104 on the red. John Kimbrough on the other hand has 557 yards to his credif with only 53 yards lost and Mar ion Pugh has 297 in the gain col umn and 51 in the other. Rushing, the two teams compare with the Aggies having a team average of 3.75 and the Longhorns having an average of 3.54 yards. Statistics and past standings will mean little at the sound of the starter’s whistle Thursday. Texans will be in high spirits and the Ag gies will be strong in determina tion. This is the final go ’round for the mighty Aggie team. For two years they have made the name of Texas A. & M. even greater than what it already was. Thursday it is either the “Spirit Of Aggieland” or “Taps”. I think the band has forgotten how to play the latter. ARKANSAS-TULSA GAME ADDED; S.M.U.-T.C.U. An added attraction for the Southwest followers on the extra Thanksgiving will be the Tulsa Hurricane - Arkansas Razorback fray. Both teams have gone down be fore the roll of the Aggies but both have turned back some great teams in unpredicted games. Arkansas nosed out Mississippi and Tulsa knocked Detroit from the unde feated and untied list. The game will be played in Tulsa and will close out the season for the Porkers. Saturday two league games head the list for this section. In Houston Baylor and Rice tan gle for one of the headline games of the day. Rice ran over T.C.U. Saturday and broke the 16 year old jinx. Baylor at the same time scared the life out of S.M.U. and forced a 7 to 4 win from the Ponies. With Jack Wilson in the back- field doing the running and Witt and Merkan tossing the ball a- round, the Bears could get the call. In North Texas Southern Meth odist and Texas Christian meet for their annual fight of the North part of the state. The Frogs have gone down many times in their play this season but Kyle Gilles pie has proven dangerous even in defeat. The Ponies have a well rounded team and should have lit tle trouble. CHARLIE’S FOOD MARKET North Gate Fever Is High Before Annual Gridiron Classic (Continued from Page 1) stand a chance of sharing the crown—if the Bible plan is success ful—but the Nortonmen stand to lose too much to allow such a win. They are determined to share the championship with no one. The Aggies have been extreme ly fortunate in having a very small injury list for the season. Only four men have felt the wrath of opposing teams and even then to a small extent. Last week’s game with Rice left “Dookie” Pugh and Tommy Vaughn on the injur ed list but both expect to see “Iron Man” service in the coming battle. The other two listed wereBuch- anan and Simmons. Both of these men play at the right end posit ion and have been incapacitated at alternate times, leaving the flank well defended at all times. As before, the “twelfth man” will be on hand to provide all of the moral support that an Aggie team has ever had—win or lose. Dr. A.
