To amend any iconstitution is
progress. To make necessary changes
in detail is sound business princi
ple. To abolish the fundamental prin
ciples of an organization is to end
that organization and all it advo-
to ament must be ascertained by
man. The time for an entire rear
rangement is obvious to all sane
men.
One has accidently happened upon
a conspiracy. He relates it to become
a traitor; he is silent and becomes
a conspirator. In every case one
finds it necessary to choose one side.
To be smart one reasons his choice
by comparative value of past facts
and future possibilities. Others are
guided by an emotional desire for
beauty.
The crisis has come. We must
choose between beauty alone and
beauty and stability plus a million
traditions. Cleopatra was beautiful,
but did not endure. History repeats
itself. When we are shown that any
unit of a body is stronger than the
entire body we choose the unit. Un
til then let us by sound reasoning
choose the body and solicit its sup
port.

POLO SPREADING
WESTWARD FAST
“The East is still the center of
high goal polo, but the West is ar
riving fast,” says Topliffe Sawyer in
his article, “The Galloping Game” in
the April issue of College Humor.
“There has been an addition to polo
to the college ranks, for in the East
Cornell is now organized and hopes
for necessary facilities some time.
The other colleges and universities—
Princeton, West Point and Penn Mil
itary—are thoroughly sold on the
game and are carrying on with en
thusiasm.
“Elbridge T. Gerry of New York
has succeeded Tim Clark as Harvard
polo captain and with E. K. Jenkins,
Harry Nicholas and possibly Crispin
Cooke of Buffalo, makes up the four
around which Coach Captain Freder
ick D. Sharp plans to build his in
door and outdoor championship de
fenders. In 1928 Harvard wrested
the indoor championship from Penn
Military, and the outdoor title from
Yale.
“Yale has a wealth of polo materi
al. The outstanding men are: S. B.
Inglehart, J. C. Rathbone and J. P.
Mills, all of whom played on the Old
Aiken team last summer, winning the
junior championship, the Herbert
Memorial Cup and the Westbury
Challenge Cup.”
