HEATING SYSTEM IS IMPROVED A very decided improvement in the water heating- system of aii the dor mitories except Hollywood,, Law, and Puryear was accomplished by the Buildings and Grounds depart ment of the college during the past few months. Two systems of heating are now employed in contrast to the one which existed last year, $7,000.00 represent ing the expenditure for the necessary changes. Formerly it was necessary to turn steam heat into all the rooms of the dormitories so that hot water might be available for the bath room and the system required an expensive regulator and heat booster at each point of distribution which was be ing continually bothered by students and which required extensive re pair and replacement each year. It is now possible to obtain hot water at any time desired through a sep arate circuit including a 4-inch hot water line to the dormitory showers and a 2 1-2 inch return to the opw- er plant connected to a recirculat ing pump which will keep hot wa ter at the desired points when such points are not using enough water to overcome the heat losses in the pipes. Also the water is now heated by exhaust steam through a heat ex changer and is capable of heating 20,00 gallons of water per hour. A saving of $1,020 a year has * -¥• ★ Jt ★ ★ ★ 1 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I I ★ ★ ★ t ! ★ ★ ! ★ ! ★ _ t | ★ * See Our Assortment .. of ..
