8 THE BATTALION 1 ' ~j^ INTRAMURAL ATHLETICS. For a number of years an Intramur al program has been carried out very successfully; each year a greater number of students take active part in the program arranged. This year a very extensive program has been worked out under the able direction of Mr. Pemberthy. The plan to be car ried out this year will allow more men to compete in some branch of athletics. Last year there were two leagues in every sport, one for up per classmen and one for freshmen. Men from three units composed the team and the champion of each lea gue played for the championship of the college. This season there will be as many leagues as necessary but each unit will have a team. This will induce more men to come out for their favorite sport and every stu dent is expected to take active part in some form of athletics. Basketball will be started next week. It promises to be very hotly contested. Already teams are practic ing and conditioning themselves for (Continued on Page 9) A. AND M. HERD. (Continued from Page 1) ing at the State Fair will be held Oct. 13-14, and at Memphis Oct. 18-19-20, which will give ample time for the Texas herd selected at the State Fair to reach the National Show. ♦> *♦«- ■►*•<• ♦♦♦ -*•> *•> * * * WHERE THEY PLAY THIS ❖ * WEEK. ❖ * ❖ <* S.
