Lookout Mountain, near
Chattanooga, you may
gaze over one of the finest
panoramas in the country,
and at the same time experi

which only historic scenes

mountain climbing to
those who prefer a v/lthered
sprig of edelweiss to the
most beautiful rose from
an old-fashioned garden;
who would rather grasp
an alpenstock than the
hand of a friend.
Perhaps, then, you do not
know that the Otis Com

easily to their offices every
morning, is ready to lift you
just as easily to the summit

The opera that is to be presented
at the Assembly Hall Friday night is
“The Mascot,” and was written by
Edmund Audran. The opera is in
three acts and has eight members in
its cast. The action of the presenta

the fifteenth century, and the plot
revolves around Betfina, a servant
girl who is strangely empowered to
bring good fortune, riches and happi

MODERNIZATION
What ho—the babble of this mob,
Their grapple for the “filthy-lucre ? ”
Foul words attack the self-respecting
snob
And yet the scandal-monger gets Ips
The cheat is draped with laurels by

Because his technique is without
compare,
While honesty itself becomes a bore
And meekness, mean because it’^
right or fair.

And life takes on an ancient form
Sword battle with our wits as knives.
Our code condemns the ancient storm
