E. students Monday night. Dr. Wesson, noted as one of the first to develop a practical method of solidi fying oils, is one of a series of speak ers that have been sent to this institution by the efforts of the Texas Cottonseed Crushers Associa tion, to whom the Chemistry depart ment is indebted for many recent favors. * * * Last Friday night saw Col. Turner step into the dual role of Uncle Sam and Santa Claus long enough to dis tribute to 606 men in advanced unit of the R. O. T. C. the sum of $18,284.40 * * sj 4 The opera that is to be presented at the Assembly Hall Friday night is “The Mascot,” and was written by Edmund Audran. The opera is in three acts and has eight members in its cast. The action of the presenta tion is laid in Piombino, Italy, during the fifteenth century, and the plot revolves around Betfina, a servant girl who is strangely empowered to bring good fortune, riches and happi ness to the household in which she dwells. The opera is said to be one of the most cleyer comic plays on the boards today.
