THE BATTALION » .r « » T T SADDLE AND SIRLOINERS HOLD ANNUAL PICNIC Escentilating the spirit of their or ganization, the members of the Sad dle and Sirloin Club of the A. and M. College of Texas, held their annual picnic at Royal Pond last Wednes day evening, May the thirteenth. The Royal Pond is a delightfully located site for such a joyous affair, being in Crenshaw’s pasture, which is near the Bryan Country Club and also close to the Bryan-College road, and seems to be a favored spot for picnics and banquets for both Bryan people and College students alike. As a prelude to the picnic proper, the “profs” of the Animal Husband ry Department and Seniors of the Saddle and Sirloin Club became en tangled in “Babe” Ruth’s favorite sport. The game was a hit and run contest in which both sides did much of each. Save for the errors of the stellar ball player, Professor Wil liams, the score might have been more highly in favor of the “Profs”; but as it happened, the score was “Profs” 8, Seniors 1. This score is not abso lutely official as the ball came very near to hitting the score keeper and he forgot how many runs the “Profs” had made. After the game had been completed, about sixty people, including the members of the Saddle and Sirloin Club, the Animal Husbandry profes sors and their wives, herdsmen, and a few guests, made a charge for the “eats”. About an hour and a half of barbecued beef, pork, and mutton, formed the major part of the menu, while fried potatoes and pickles were in abundance. A dessert of ice cream completed the menu. Professor Stangel and Colonel Frank Stubbs tied for first place in the amount of barbecue eaten. “Sketer” Johnson said that it was a handicap match in which he lost heavily on ac count of his lack of capacity. After dinner, President Kimble of the Saddle and Sirloin Club introduc ed Dean Kyle who was the speaker of the evening. Dean Kyle compliment ed the club very highly because of its progress and the - good work that it is doing. He also promised to donate some books and several sets of horns to the Saddle and Sirloin Club room. The few hours flew by almost as minutes, and the picnic came to a close. Every one departed enthusias tically wishing that the Saddle and Sirloin Club picnics would come more often than once a year. RESOLUTIONS.
