THE BATTALION BAND JOURNEYS TO BELTON. Approximately fifty members of the A. and M. Band, led by Bandmas ter R. J. Dunn, left College Station, Saturday morning for Belton, where they played for the students of Bay lor College. The Band arrived at Tem ple at 3:30 p. m. and marched to the first National Bank Building, where it played five numbers. As soon as it was learned that P. L. Downs, Jr. —a member of the Board of Directors of A. and M. College who was in strumental in getting the Band to make the trip—was sick abed, the Band marched to his home and play ed several selections there. The trip from Temple to Belton was made by automobile. On arriving at the College campus about 5:15, the band assembled and played three num bers. The members of the Band were guests of the College at dinner. At 8:00 p. m. Saturday night, the concert —which is becoming an annual affair began, which lasted until 10:30. The Band played a large number of popu lar selections, featuring numerous solos. Following the concert, the Ag- gieland Orchestra played several jazzy cance pieces—which was a fitting fea ture to climax a successful evening. The Academia Society—a literary society of the college—invited the Band to play at Baylor College, and it was in charge of the entertainment of the A. and M. visitors. A reception was held Saturday night after the concert in Luther Hall in honor of the visiting cadets. Sunday afternoon, Dr. Hardy, president of the College, en- terta.ned the Senior Class of the Col lege and the members of the band at his home, prior to the return of the Band to College Station.
