STUDENTS C.IVr i J COLLEGE TO ENTER MATRIMONY Friends and relatives of two prominent young Houstonians, both thought to be at the University of Texas, were startled Monday by their appearance in Houston and t.re announcement that they had been married on October 1 at Buda Texas, near Austin. The young people are now Mr. and Mrs. John S. Stewart, Jr., Mrs. Stewart before her marriage was Miss Cornelia Ennis Cargill, 19- year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Cargill of 4000 Bute Avenue. They were members of two of the city’s most prominent families. Mr. Stewart is 21 years old. The families refused to discuss the wedding and the young people could not be reached. That it was an un- quetioned surprise to both families was admitted. Recent dispatches carried mention of the pledging of Miss Cargill to the Beta Phi so ciety at the university. Stewart graduated with high hon ors last year at the Agricultural and Mechanical College and had gone to Texas University for a post-graduate course. Miss Cargill was in her first year. Neither will go back to school, the families announce. The two had known each other for some time. Stewart was a member of the cla?s of 1919, being Captain of Company C, and editor-in-chief of the Long horn. The Battalion extends con gratulations and best wishes. PORT ARTHUR SOCIETY ORGAN IZED AT A. AND M. The organization is not as large as the student members would like for it to be, but in view of the fact tha.t it is newly formed and everything must have its beginning, everybody is satisfied with the showing. Next year it is hoped that the organization will grow much greater and have more influence in this College. The officers elected were: H. J. Japour, president and H. B. Willard, s ecietary-treasurer. PICTORIAL CALENDAR TO BE PUBLISHED A verry agreeable surprise has been sprung upon the College stu dents and College officials by the news of the publication of a Pic torial Calendar this year. The last book of this kind was produced in ’16, edited by Manley Gibson. This year the Calendar promises to be a better, more handsome and cleverer book in every way. Every student and College official owe to themselves the purchase of one of these attract ive books. Although cheap in price they are the best representation of the A. and M. College, its buildings and activities ever published. These Calendars are to be delivered before Christmas and to the man or woman who has a Christmas present to give they are a boon. Orders may be placed now with K. J. Edwards or E. E. McQuillen, 106 Bizzell. AGRICULTURAL ASSEMBLY FOR AGRICULTURAL STUDENTS Through faculty action it will be required of every agricultural stu dent to attend every month a meet ing of the Agricultural Aassembly. Freshman and Sophomore students will have their meeting together, and so will Juniors and Seniors. In the former, matters of general agricul tural interest will be discussed, and in the latter the head and members of a department in the School of Ag riculture will have charge, each time having a different department. Sen ior students in the department wall be required to talk about a subject, leaving it to the Juniors to discuss it and criticize the matter. Be it understood that this assembly has nothing to do with the Scientific Ag ricultural Society which is a student organization with no official char acter. For the first time in the history of the Texas Agricultural and Mechani cal College, organization has been established from Port Arthur. Here tofore, such an organization was not possible due to the fact that very few of the Port Arthur boys attended this College, but conditions have now changed and A. and M. is getting her share of the student body leaving from Port Arthur for college. The organization was formed for the purpose of having all the Port Arthur boys of this College to get acquainted, especially the Federal students that the Government is sending, and second to create more A. and M. pep in the home town. Mrs. J. B. Bagley has gone to Waco to visit Mrs. R. J. Potts and to attend the Cotton Palace festivi ties. Mrs. Bagley expects to re main in Waco until after the Baylor A. and M. game. The many friends of Mr. Gilfillan and Mr. Bitterest were delighted to see them here for the A. and M.-Ok lahoma game Friday. They expect to be back for the Thanksgiving game with ’Varsity. Mrs. W. L. Driver entertained a large number of her Bryan and Col lege friends Wednesday afternoon with a Halloween party. ± i* Campus Barber Shop 1* ju X Seven chairs.
