Then in the fifth inning Skeeler knocked a two-bagger; Hook er heat out a bunt; Skeeler stole third and Shorty stole second. Skeeler scored on Kendricks' sacrifice, and Shorty scored on Tom Cherry’s hit. In the ninth inning Harris tried to cut Powers off at third, but he got wild and hit Powers, the ball rolling over under the bleachers. By the time the Methodists had dug it out Brailsford and Powers had crossed the pan. The A. & M. squad was entertained that night as the guests of the “T” Association. Wednesday morning they are to take a trip up Lake Austin as the guests of the baseball team. A. & M. was defeated by State Tuesday by a score of 2 to 3. Win ston and Cone pitched for the State team and Olson did the work for the Aggies. The crowd was the biggest ever seen at a baseball game on Clark Field. Texas scored first in the third, when Mays walked, took second on a sacrifice and scored on Gambrell’s three-bagger. Gambrell tried to steal home, but he wasn’t quite slick enough. A. & M. came back strong in the fourth and tied the score. Kendricks got to first on an error. Powers walked and Cherry got on on an error, filling the bases. Rigney, the next man up, almost repeated the stunt he pulled off in the first Varsity game. He got a safe hit, and it just missed being a two-bagger by a small margin. Powers was caught out in home by a narrow margin. Had Powers scored the tale would have been a different one. In the fourth inning State got two more runs. Anderson led off with a three-bagger and scored on Olson’s University won from A. & M. Wed nesday by a score of 8 to 2. This was the fourth game of the series, two of which were played here and two at Austin. By winning this game the Aggies and State break even in baseball, each team winning two games. L. J. Skeeler started the game, but was taken out when the first man up walked, and Gilfillan was put in, but he was taken out, and W. J. Skeeler put in before the inning was over, and he finished out the game. All of Texas’ scoring was done in the first inning. It started when Skeeler walked the first man up. Gil- fill*an and Skeeler did not seem to be able to hold them and before the in ning was over State had brought in eight runs. A. & M. scored in the first.
