CADET FBISCO TRIP AROUSES lAfTEREST C. M. EVANS SAYS EXCURSION TO EXPOSITION WILL ATTRACT MANY NEW STUDENTS. The proposed trip of the A. & M. College cadet corps is exciting a world of interest and comment among the people of the State, according to C. M. Evans, superintendent college extension, and D. T. Stevens, assist ant in that department, who have just returned from a thirty-day tour of the State. “We visited 125 towns and met over 100,000 people on the Katy-A. & M. demonstration train, and at every stop somebody asked us about this trip,” said Mr. Evans. “I believe that it will attract a large number of new students next year, as one of the prin cipal inquiries was, ‘Will I be eligible for the trip if I enter there in Sep tember?’ We found many fathers and mothers were keen for the trip and greatly in favor of it. “Personally, I think that it can be staged without difficulty, and the boys may count on me for any assistance I can render.” Both Mr. Evans and Mr. Stevens are alumni of the college. 4 ROSS VOLUNTEER HOP. The Ross Volunteer hop, given Thursday evening, April 16, in the new Mess Hall, was the prettiest dance that has ever been put on at A. & M. Promptly at 10 o’clock the dancers filed in line for the grand march, which was led by G. P. Knox, captain of the Ross Volunteers, and Miss Mil dred Chambers of San Antonio. About one hundred and fifty couples parti cipated. The visitors came from all parts of the State, and three of the young ladies were from. New York, and are visiting friends in Bryan. The style of dancing was changed very much from what it has hereto fore been. Very few couples were seen dancing the old time waltz and .two-step. In place of these, the one- step, tango, catle-walk and hesitation were put on exhibition and with the greatest success. The Ross Volunteer hop marks a turning point in the social affairs at A. & M. The new dances were so beautiful, graceful and artistic that they are being taken up by the campus people, some of whom were very much opposed to these dances until they were demonstrated at the Junior and Ross Volunteer dances. This was the best dance ever held here, but we hope not the last one, and this one was enjoyed so very much by everyone in attendance, and it afforded a great deal of pleasure to the onlookers. Some wag took a drunken fellow, placed him in a coffin with the lid so that he could lift it, put him in a graveyard and waited to see the effect. After a short time the fumes of the liquor left him, and his position being rather confined, he sat upright, and after looking around, exclaimed: “Well, I’m the first one that riz, or else I’m confounded belated!” B BB on BB BB BB on on no on on BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB on on BB BB BB BB BB BB on 0-0 BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB on on BB BB no on on BB BB BB BB on BB BB no BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB BB Dixie Theatre Continuous from 1 P.
