I determined not to look upon drill as a hateful duty, which of neces sity must be performed, but as a fa vorite pastime. At first my will power was scarcely strong enough to force me to take this attitude, but as time went on I became used to it and now look upon it not merely as a pleasure but even as my favorite diversion. I am no longer held in terror by drill call. Battalion and company in spections are pleasures never dreamed of before. The manual of arms is as water to dry land. Guard mount, espe cially grand guard mount, is to my weary brain as oil upon stormy waters, waters. The command, “Double time!” and rapid cadence as called out by the “Mighty Caesar” (in the awkward squad) only add to my delight. The height of joyousness arrives with dress parade. My heart jumps up and down with eager anticipation when I hear the merry notes of adjutant's call. How happy I feel when the regiment marches out to the martial strains of the band! How inspiring It is to see the band march up and down and to hear them playing a beautiful melody and to realize that I form a small part of the corps! The culmination of my almost intoxicating pleasure is reached when the majors and their staffs ap proach the center. I feel, that it Is a privilege, indeed a great privilege, to be allowed to view their military walk, their beautiful step, and neat attire. Looking upon drill in this manner has aided me to look upon other things in a different manner, and I can say with assurance that drilling is my favorite pastime. ADAMS BRYAN - TEXAS: SYMPATHETIC CAESAR. At the hall game Monday between the Buffaloes and A. & M., Caesar Hohn pulled off a stunt that was equal to a circus. He went in about the fifth and caught two innings. During the course of the game, after it became evident that the Farmers were losing, Caesar could be seen down on his knees in the catcher’s box crying and pleading like a heart-broken boy for the pitcher to put the ball in the right place. Evidently the Houston fellows had never seen anything like it before, for they laughed till the tears came. The fans were amused equally as much. BRYAN POOL HALL A pleasure resort for gentlemen.
