After seeing the sights of the I town, the party was taken by Mr. Ward Malone to hfs irrigated fan* ' on the San Marcos river. Mr. Mai- lone has a canal from the river to his plantation, and by water power he can pump 5060 gallons from the canal per minute. He is able to regulate the water supply simp ly by the turn of a wheel. The machinery consists principally of 3 turbine wheel and a pump, and the construction is very permanent. Mr. Malone practices both the flooding and fnrrow system of ir rigation. ; By the furrow system water is run along each furrow, while by (Jie flooding system a tract of several rows is flooded with water, y Many acres of onions were seen near San Marcos, all in good con dition. Mr. Malone has a field of alfalfa which he intends to cut every thirty days from now till frost Tb< farm of Mr Will Green was next visited. ' Mr. Green pumps water from the r i,umpken Spring by means of electricity. This spring is large and inexsustible, so that plenty of water is assured. .
