18 THE BATTALION. tiempo mas. With best wishes we re main, your sincere friends, COLLINS C. BROWN, Co. M„ EUGENE APPLEBY, Co. D. Our address is: Care General Young’s headquarters, Vigan, via Manila, P. I. P. S.—We tried to signal the trans port that had this letter on board, so we could correct errors. But she was too far out to notice us. However, you can return it for corrections. Tell Brown, R., (if he is there) to write me a line in your answer. “BROWN, C.” CLT^SS OF 1900.” We take them by rank. And are supposed to be correct; But this true only In some- respects. B is for Bryan, Who’s in charge of Mess Hall; And if he don’t eat plenty. The supply is small. Plenty of time he gives us To eat to our hearts’ desire; The man who says he hurries us— Why, he’s a dirty liar! W is for Walden, Who to a professor can talk. And if he don’t come out first It won’t be his fault. L is for Luhrsen, Who can take charge of a mob And make drill masters of them If it wasn’t for the snobs. S O is for Simpson O.— And a C. E., to be sure. What he doesn’t know ’bout math. Is known only by Prof. Puryeer. Bryan, Walden, Luhrsen and Simpson A captainship did get. And what they don’t know ’bout tactics Is not to be known. Nit! A is for Abrahams And Adjutant, too. Judging from his faco and name. He’s only a Jew. G is for Griffith, Who in despair Suit the staff table To a fish’s desire. Now, there is McGinnis, A sport with great speed. The way he catches ladies Is heart-breaking, indeed. Abrahams, Griffith and McGinnis- Three of a kind. Hurrah! for the staff! Aren’t they a-flying? There’s R. B. Boettcher, The Prussian Count. He’s Battalion Manager, But that’s of no amount. He can’t bully Simpson, Just because he’s small. Simpson is Battalion Editor, And he’ll run it all. F is for Faust, A sporty German lad. He may be a windy. But then he’s not bad. S S stands for Simpson S. He is little and quiet. But don’t try to bully him. For he sure will fight. Now, there is Willie Buhler, The First Lieutenant of “C.” They say he’s as happy As happy can be. M is for for Myers, Who is guilty of the prank Of continually shaking hands On the resignation of rank.
