••• • • SOOIHL. • ••« HE officers of Company A were In vited to attend an anti-nuptial re ception given to their sponsor, Miss Stella Shepard, at the residence of Mr. W. S. Norvell’s, Jan. 31. As many of the boys as could were present and en joyed a happy time, being warmty wel comed by the bride-elect, who intro duced them to her future husband, Mr. Sanford. The pretty girls of Bryan were out in full force, and assisted in entertaining the boys in brass, buttons. Before the close of the entertainment, Mr. F. Marion Law presented an el- gant enameled watch to Miss Shepard, in the name of Company A, with a de lightful and aprpopriate speech, to which Mr. Sanford renlied in a few well chosen words. Miss Shepard is a young woman of rare mental attain ments, of remarkable tact, and has a charm of manner that is indescribable, thus rendering her a queen in society wherever she is known. She will be very much missed at College, for she has been a great favorite among the ca dets, and has proved herself a true friend to them. The best wishes of the entire corps attend her in her new path in life. The dance given complimentary to Miss Ruby Lee Melgard, of Brazoria, Texas, on the 21st of January, was the first on the list of dances at the Col lege in 1900. There was not a very large crowd present, but enough to have a very pleasant time. Every one seemed to enjoy themselves and were sorry to hear the strains of “Home, Sweet Home.” The following is the list of couples that were present: Mss El- ma Harbers, B. P. Melgard; Miss La- vinia McConico, Claude Gardner; Miss Mytre Conway, J. S. Monroe; Miss Mellie Smith, Rob Reardon; Miss Lucy Board, Sylvan Biering; Miss Buhla Ed monds, Henry Japhet; Miss Ellena Ed monds, Jerome Harrison; Miss Marie Shields, Cary Hutson; Miss Estella Harmon, Ralph Chatham; Miss Ruby Melgard, Tom Clements; Miss Marion Foote, Will Buhler; Miss Mary Hutson, B. G. Scherer; Miss Sophie Hutson, Bruce Greeves. The young gentlemen present from Bryan were Will Johnson, Rob Roberts, Fred Harpers, Will Saun ders. Miss Ruby Lee Melgard, of Brazoria, Texas, was the gues£ of Misses Mary and Sophie Hutson last month. Miss Melgard visited the College last Com mencement, and we will be glad, indeed, to welcome her many times as our guest. Miss Hassel, of Dallas, has been the guest of Miss Reta Sbisa and Col. and Mrs. Foster for the past two weeks. Miss Davis, of Waxahachie,. cousin of Cadet R. A. Davis, was a guest of Miss Wallace last month. Dr. and Mrs. Harrington, of Waco, visited Prof, and Mrs. Harrington last month.
