W, (§) S ELDOM has a more lovely scene been beheld than the ball-room during the last Thanksgiving hop, held on Friday, Dec. 1. The large and brilliantly lighted hall, with the varied and handsome costumes of those pres ent, enhanced the beauty of the occa sion. The crowd was not too large, the weather was pleasant, and every ele ment was present for a royal good time. Erb’s orchestra furnished delightful music. The grand march was led by Col. Foster and Miss McLellan, of Hillsboro, and included several pretty movements. There were many visit ing ladies and gentlemen from adja cent towns, as well as the belles and beaux of Bryan. Two-step succeeded waltz, to be followed by schottische, the dancers never seeming to weary unti! at 2:30 the strains of “Home Sweet Home” closed the delightful Thanksgiving hop. Mrs. Bailey, of Houston, chaperoned a party of young ladies from that city, coming on a special car. The party included Misseis Anna Quinlan, Marcita Del gado, Effle Jones and Miller, Misses Frenchel Smith, of Dallas, and Virginia Wheedon, of Louisiana, visited Mrs. Harrison. Missefs Ada and Bertha Beeker, of Brenham, and Marian Foster, of Bry an, were guests of Mrs. Foster. Mrs. Hutson’s house party included Misses Lott, from Navasota, Berta Booker, of Brenham, Rose Shields and Suggs, of Bryan. Mrs. Bittle entertained Misses Trino Shields of Bryan, Velas W. Steffen and Edna Reinhardt, of Hearne. Miss Gardner, of Bellville, isister of Claude Gardner, was a guest of Mrs. Edmonds. Misses Marie Adams and Ethel Cavitt, of Bryan, visited Mrs. Connell. Mis/s McLellan, of Hillsboro, was a guest of Mrs. Philpot. Among those present from tsryan were Misses Stella Parker, Nellie Smith, Marie Mistrot, Josie Clarke, May and Maggie Pitts, Elma Harbers. Among the visiting gentlemen were peen Dr. Allen Kyle, of Houston, Messrs. Edwards, of Beaumont, Da- shiell and Saunders, of Calvert, Kirk Harrison, of Brenham. BAYLOR’S RECEPTION. Although our foot-ball players were deprived of a Thanksgiving dinner, still they say that their visit to Waco was one of the pleasantest they ever made.
