38 THE BATTALION. Societies. At a joint meeting of the two societies Mr. R. J. Poulter was elected business manager of the Battalion. At the last regular meeting of the societies the following officers were elected: CALLIOPE AN. AUSTIN. President, Sloss; vice-president, Lewis M.; critic, Horn; recording secretary, Blackwell; corresponding secretary, Saunders W.; treasurer, Bryan; censor, Barnes S., librarian, Fewell; sergeant-at-arms, Moseley; editor-in-chief of Battal ion, Sloss; assistant editors, Bland, Blackwell. JINGLES ON FIRST CLASS. A is for Abbott, who is fond of the girls, His favorite souvenirs are slippers and curls. B is for Barclay, who once fell in love, But somebody else went off with his dove. B is for Barnes, the gallant, the gay, In Bryan he spends each holiday. B for Bretschneider, he’s fond of his math, And it’s certain to keep him in the right path. B is for Brogdon, without anger or strife; He didn’t get mad at the joke of “high life.” C is for Crow, a pretty tough meat, I hope that I’ll never have him to eat. C is for Carter, who is sober and steady, And yet for fun he’s always ready. D is for Donaldson, fond of foot ball, In playing it once he got a bad fall. E is for everyone in the first class, And hoping they all will manage to pass. F is Foutrel, a Frenchman by name, But he’s strictly American all the same.
