International week
Thirty three-countries from Latin America, Eu
rope, Asia and Africa had cultural display booths
Monday and Tuesday in the Memorial Student Cen
ter where they displayed various wares and products
native to their country.
At the booths people could talk to Texas A&M stu
dents from that country. Intricate carvings, pottery,
paintings, currency, leather craft and literature were
displayed. Bangladesh was judged to have the best
display table. Malaysia placed second and Lebanon
third.
Thursday night the international food fair was

held. Samples food f rom various countries such as
Singapore, Turkey, the Phillippines, Norway, Pan
ama, Mexico and India were at trie food fair. The va
rieties of food ranged from tortillas to black-eyed
peas and fruit native to the country. Lebanon won
tirst place in the food fair judged on the taste of the
food, the decoration of their table and the hospitality
and organization of the members of that country.

A fashion show and talent show were held Friday
night in Rudder Auditorium. The native fashions of
each country were modeled and representatives from
each country participated in the talent show which
was won by Indonesia. Lebanon and the Phillippines
tied for second and Bolivia placed third.

ASTROS vs. REDS
Superstars competition was this past weekend. This contestant participated in the softball
throw.
Charlie Hustle, better known as Pete Rose, and his Cin-
ncinatti Reds will be playing the Houston Astros Tuesday,
April 23 in the Astrodome.
The Intramural-Recreational Sports Department is spon
soring a group trip to and from the game. Cost for the trip is
$20 per person. This price includes transportation to and from
the Dome in an air-conditioned bus with restrooms as well as
liquid refreshments and munchies for the trip down.
The bus will leave from Parking Lot 60 (across from G.
Rollie White Coliseum) at 5 p.m. and return immediately after
the game.
Reservations will be taken from April 1 to April 15 in the
Intramural-Recreational Sports Office, 159 East Kyle. Contact

ARCHERY — Entries open today and
close Tuesday, April 16. The contest
date is Tuesday, April 23 beginning at 6
p.m. in 304 East Kyle. Times will be se
lected at registration. FITA rules will ap
ply. Participants must supply own
equipment. No compound bows may be
used.
ENTRIES CLOSE:
GOLF DOUBLES — Entries close to
morrow, April 2. Green fees must be
paid at registration. TAMU Golf Course
members must show their membership

only. The event will be held Thursday,
April 4 at Olsen Field. Participants will
swing at 10 pitches released from a
pitching machine; Rules are available
in the Intramural Office.

BADMINTON TOURNAMENT
The TAMU Badminton club is holding the Texas A&M Univer
sity Parent’s Weekend Tournament Friday, April 12 and Saturday,
April 13 in G. Rollie White.
Participants may chose from two divisions, open and college.
To enter the college division, the entrant must be enrolled in a col
lege. The college tournament will be held Friday followed by the
open tournament on Saturday.
Entry fees are $5 for each college tournament event and $7
for the first open event (price decreases with each additional
event).
Louisville Badminton Supply will help sponsor the tourna
ment.
