Former Secretary
Takes Foreign Job
Mrs. Louise Glenn has arrived in
Dacca, East Pakistan, for an as
signment in the office of the A&M
group in that country, Dr. G. M.
Watkins, dean of the School of
Agriculture, said today.
She will serve as administrative
assistant to H. P. Smith, chief of
the group in the Intercollege Ex
change Program of the A&M Sys
tem and the University of Dacca.
Mrs. Glenn has been granted a
two-year leave of absence from her
position as secretary to the dean
of agriculture.
A native of Brazos County and
a graduate of Texas Woman’s Uni
versity, she first joined A&M in
June, 1947, as a temporary stenor-
grapher in the Department of
Dairy Husbandry.
On Sept. 1, 1947, she became a
stenographer in the Department of
Bio-chemistry and Nutrition. From
June 22, 1949 to August 31, 1949
she was secretary in the Graduate
School.
After teaching' in A&M Consol
idated High School for two years,
she returned to the college on Aug.
1, 1951, as a secretary in the De
partment of Animal Husbandry.
She became secretary to the dean
of the college Sept. 1, 1956, and
secretary to the dean of agriculture
on Aug. 1, 1957.
Mrs. Glenn is active in the
National Secretaries Assn. She
served as recording secretary for
this organitation during 1957-58
and currently has membership on
four commitfees.
She is a member of the local
chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and
was elected this year as vice pres
ident of the TWU Alumni Assn.
She had previously served the
association as seci-etary, press
Alpha Zeta Initiates
22 New Members
Dr. G. M. Watkins, dean of the
School of Agriculture, and Dr. H.
O. Kunkel, professor of Biochem
istry and Nutrition, were initiat
ed into the Texas Alpha chapter
of Alpha Zeta at A&M last night.
Twenty students -vyere also
brought into the national honor
fraternity of agriculture.
Members of this fraternity are
selected on a basis of scholarship,
leadership and character. They are
desci’ibed as the future leaders in
the field of agriculture.
Dr. Fred Jones, retired head of
the Depai’tment of Agricultural
Engineering, presented a challenge
to the initiates to seek the type of
work they enjoyed doing.
New members initiated at the
regular monthly meeting Monday
night were Morris Asbill, Gilbert
Balch, William Cook, Dale Darl
ing, Henry Fitzhugh, Jtobert Ken-
sing, Wayne LePori, Ofval Love,
Donald Osborn, Ralph Peterson,
Phil Phillips, Herbert Schumann,
James Taylor, Robert Vanwinkle,
Gerald Wakefield, Travis Wegen-
hoft, William Whitney, James
Whitten, Walter Willms and Ver
non Yanta.

To Have Field Trip
Two groups of seniors in the
Department of Industrial Education
will take their annual seminar
field trip, April 6-7.
t The two-day trip will consist of
inspection tours of various indus
trial plants and a public school.
One group of students will go to
the Houston area and the other to
the Fort Worth area.

Baptist Church of College Station
where she is president of the
Adult Training Group and chaii’-
man of the WMU Mission Study.
She has taught the adult women’s
class.
Ch.E. Department
Gets $1,500 Grant
The Department of Chemical En
gineering, has received a $1,500
grant from the Universal Oil Pro
ducts Co. of Des Plaines, 111., Dr.
J. D. Lindsay, head of the depart
ment, has announced. I
The company designated $1,000
of the grant for scholarships for
seniors majoring in chemical en
gineering with the remaining $500
to augment the general funds of
the Chemical Engineering De
partment to be used for such pur
poses as deemed worthwhile.

Wesleyans to Hold Communion Kites
The A&M Wesley Foundation
will hold a special Easter commun
ion service? at 6:30 a. m. Wed
nesday according to the Rev. Bob
Cooper, director of the foundation.
The meditation will bo “Witness
to The World” and will bo used
to help put the students in the
spirit of the Easter season.
A breakfast of milk, coffee, sweet
T’olls and donuts will be swerved
afterwards. An informal discus
sion on the problems of the day will
follow.
A car will be at the steps at the
north end of the New Corps Area
