Flower Show Uses
Theme of Circus
A circus theme “Under The Big-
Top” will be used by the A&M
Garden club for their spring flower
show in the educational building of
the Presbyterian church, Tuesday,
March 29.
Cut-outs of animals from the
circus will be in the background of
the floral arrangements and enti'ies
in the show will follow the big top
theme, Mrs. Marion Pugh and Mrs.
Tom Tayloz - , co-chairmen of the
staging and properties committee,
announced.
In division two, arrangements,
there will be 15 classes composed
of the bearded lady, an iris ar
rangement; queen of the big top,
an arrangement of roses; the aer-
ialist, a daffodil arrangement;
tight-wire artist, an asymetrical
arrangement; the animal acts, an
arrangement with animal accesso
ries; the harlequin clown, red, blue
or yellow predominating; roller
coaster, a hogarth curve; taffy ap
ples, an arrangement of fruit and
flowers; Flora, the cannon girl, a
novelty in an unusual container;
. Others are “Wheel of Fortune,”
tiovice class for those who have not
won a blue ribbon; “Hey, BubdV’
fresh foliage ai*rangement,; with
accent other than flowers; the saw
dust ring, an arrangement of -dried
material such as driftwood; .and the
shooting gallery, thg! ^en’s Invi
tational class.

BA Wives Plan
Western Dance
The Business Wives club will
sponsor a western style dance Sat
urday at 8:30 p.m. at Maggie Par
ker’s dining hall.
Mrs. Margaret Jones, club pres
ident, said that all proceeds from
the dance will be given to the
newly organized nursery.
Tickets for the dance are 81.25
per couple and will be sold at the
door.

The standard system of judging
will be used for the show. A blue
ribbon will be awarded for the most
perfect entry in a class, a red rib
bon for second best, a yellow for
third best, and white ribbons for
entiies worthy of honorable men
tion.
Tri-color will be awarded for the
outstanding exhibit in both the hor
ticulture division and the arrange
ment division. Each will count
five points toward the sweepstakes.
A sweepstakes ribbon will be
awarded to the winner of the great
est number of blue ribbon points
in the horticulture division and to
the winner of the greatest number
of blue ribbon points in the ar
rangement division.
Rules for exhibitors are as fol
lows:
• Exhibits will be limited, to
A&M Garden club members, with
the exception of the Men’s Invita
tional classes.
• Exhibits must be .placed be
tween the hours of 9 a.m. and 12
noon, after which no entries will
be accepted. Helpers in the show
must enter their exhibits before
9 a.m.
• Exhibits must remain in
place until the final closing hour
of the show. All exhibits must be
removed by 9 p.m. on the night of
the show.
• Exhibitors will be allowed
only one entry in each class, except
where classes are sub-divided; in
which case one entry will be allow
ed in each sub-division.
• Arrangements must be made
at home. Two-thirds of the mate-
rial used must have been grown by
the exhibitor. Exceptions to this
rule are classes IQ. (taffy apples,
an arrangement of fruit and flow
ers) an*l 14 (the sawdust ring, an
arrangement off dried material).
• All horticulture exhibits must
have been grown by the exhibitor.
Extra points will be given for cor
rect labeling.
• Horticulture exhibits must be
displayed in clear, glass bottles
furnished by the exhibitor.
• Exhibitors are responsible for
all personal property used in the
show.
• Potted plants must have been
in exhibitor’s possession three
months.
• Accessories will be limited to
class 5 (the animal acts, an ar
rangement with animal accessory).
• The decision of the judges
will be final.
• Members are required to en
ter at least one class or be pen
alized.
