J. B. McCoy Was the second Ca

for the victory. The Pirates nicked
McCoy for their first tally in the
third with two hits and some errg-
jtie play in the Cadet infield.
Larry- Ludkie relieved McCoy at
the beginning of the fifth inning
qnd Pat Hubert worked the final
three stanzas for the Farmers.
Hubert was the victim of some
questionable support in the eight
and ninth frames and the Pirates
tallied four times on only two
hits.
The Farmers hit hard as well as
often yesterday. Two; round trip
pers arid four doubles, were in
cluded iri the 14-hit barrage. Short
stop Guy Wallace of Dallas paced
the Junior Aggie attack ^ith thrpq
safeties" in four trips to the plate.
Lead-tfff man Joe Savarino did
just Wtiat a leacLoff hitter is
supposed to do. He reached first
safely six times in as many tries.
However, Savarino went to ex
tremes to reach the initial sack.
He was twice hit by pitched balls.
Outfielder Dave Britt got the
first Aggie home run for the 1948
se&soh when he smacked one of
pitcher Ray Rister’s curve balls
over the center , field fence in the
kqventhj; inning. Infielder Wallace
Mbon duplicated Britt’s feat in the
eighth frame with a drive over the
right Held fence.
Catcher Bob Graham made (he
catch of the day in the third inning
with a one-hand nab of a pop-up.
The ball would have been hard to
Aret under any circumstances, and
tnK Aggie maskmaii-had to contest
with' the Pirates’ Jiriuny Metcalf
for the^ball.
